课标要求 This section asks students to read a fable-The Stone in the Road Then students are guided to write a review of the fable. In the fable, a king placed a large stone in the middle of the road and hid gold coins under the stone in order to test his people's attitude and reaction towards the obstacle. Many people simply complained about the stone but they were unwilling to remove it. In the end, a young girl moved away the stone and received both gold coins and praise from the king. The plot of the fable is simple but perfectly reveals its educational theme and profound insights.
教学目标 (核心素养) At the end of this section, students will be able to: write the main idea of the fable 2. write some details about the fable by using the -ing form 3. state their opinion and reasons
教学重点 Using -ing form in the review.
教学难点 Write a review of the moral fable based on the given outline, in which students should first give a short description of the writing, and then clearly state their opinion and reasons.

Step 1 Leading in
Lead in to the topic 1.1 Lead in the -ing form. Hoping to cheer you up, I have prepared a short story for you. 1.2 enjoy a traditional chinese fable: Yu Gong Moves a Mountain 1.3 TALK about the video ,and conclude what is fable and its writing purpose.: 设计意图:用-ing形式描述故事的主要内容,了解什么是fable以及它的主要教育目的。 Step 2 Reading for main idea

Ask students to read the fable again more carefully and finish Activity 2 on page 21. Let’s write a complete sentence to present people’s emotion and response when they came across the stone, and try to use the –ing form as adverbial. 1. 挤奶工撞到石头上后,气愤地走开了。 After crashing into the stone, the Milkman went away angrily. 2. 被石头绊倒后,那个拿水的女人站了起来,流着泪一瘸一拐地走了。 After tripping over the stone, the woman with water picked herself up, limping away in tears. 3. 对路上的石头很恼火,其他村民却只是抱怨,什么也没做。 Annoyed by the stone in the road, other villagers just complained, doing nothing. 4.这个年轻女孩担心其他村民,使出浑身解数把石头推开。 Worried/concerned about the other villagers, the young girl pushed the stone with all her might, moving it away. …moving it to the side of the road.( 更具体地指出地点) 设计意图:训练学生从找KEY WORDS 到编写句子的能力。 Step3 reading for thinking

After reading the fable, I realized that… 设计意图:培养批判性思维,并表达观点态度的能力。 Step 5 Write a review of the fable Possible version: Now let's review what we have learned in this class We have already Find out some basic Information about the story and we have analyzed the story. Some of you shared your opinion about the story with me. Please write a review about the Stone in the road. You are supposed to give a short description of the story,you have to include the most important details. Give opinion about the characters or their actions. And try to organize the review well.。 Please use some some -ing form in the review. You'd better not make to grammar , spelling and the punctuation errors. Now let's evaluate your review. Please give me some feedback on their draft. Step6 Exchange drafts. Use the checklist to give feedback on your partner's draft. 设计意图:培养学生关注写作内容, 正确评价写作的能力。
