【知识点拨】
1.Could you please pass me the salt?你能递给我盐吗?
pass 意为“传递”,可直接跟双宾语,“把某物传递给某人”的结构为pass sb.sth.,或pass sth.to sb.。类似此用法的词还有give,lend,bring。
例句:I pass my father a cup of water.=I pass a cup of water to my father.我递给爸爸一杯水。
2.Could I borrow that book?我可以借那本书吗?
(1)borrow 意为“借”,“向某人借某物”的结构为borrow sth.from sb.。
例句:I borrowed a bike from Tom.= I borrowed Tom a bike.昨天我向汤姆借了一辆自行车。
(2)borrow的反义词是lend,意为“借给;借出”。“把某物借给某人”的结构为lend sb.sth.或lend sth.to sb.。
例句:Mary lent her new dictionary to me.=Mary lent me her new dictionary.玛丽把她的新词典借给了我。
