(2)join in通常指参加某项活动，尤其指和他人一起参加，相当于take part in。如：

二者都有“参加，加入”之意。

He joined the army last year.去年他参军了。
take part in 指参加某项活动并在其中发挥一定的作用。take an active part in… 意为“积极参加……”。
join 指参加组织、团体、党派等，并成为其中的一员；join后也可接人，表示“加入某人(的行列)”。

[观察3] Chess challenges you and makes you think hard.
国际象棋挑战你并使你努力思考。
[探究] make sb.do sth.意为“________________”。此结构中，宾语补足语为________(带/不带)to的动词不定式。类似用法的短语还有let sb. do sth.和have sb. do sth.，意为“让/使某人做某事”。如：Don't let him come in.别让他进来。
[拓展] “make sb.＋adj.” 意为“使某人……”。

[注意]当make的宾语是不定式短语或从句时，多用it作形式宾语，而把不定式短语或从句后置。如：
