1. She is not looking forward to working with her group because a boy named Li Tian is always absent from the group meetings. 她不盼望跟她的小组一起活动, 因为一个叫李田的男生总是不参加小组会议。
look forward to “盼望, 期待”, “to” 是介词, 后跟名词、代词或动词的－ing形式
eg：I'm looking forward to a visit to my grandparents. 我期待着去看望爷爷奶奶。
I look forward to meeting her again. 我盼望再见到她。

2. He doesn't follow the rules, and he refuses to do any work. 他不遵守纪律, 拒绝做任何事情。
refuse “拒绝”, 其后可以用动词不定式作宾语, 不可以用动词－ing形式。
eg: He refused to help me with my Chinese. 他不帮我学汉语。
refuse 拒绝后可接双宾语
eg：The bank refused him the loan. 银行拒绝向他贷款。
eg: I hope to see her again. 我希望再见到她。
He offered to help me. 他主动帮助我。
My mother promised to buy a new bike for me. 妈妈许诺要给我买辆新自行车。

[拓展] 只能跟动词不定式、不能跟动词－ing形式作宾语的常见动词还有agree, aim, choose, decide, expect, hope, learn, manage, offer, prepare, pretend, promise, volunteer等
3. This slows the whole group down. 这使整个组的进度慢了下来。
slow down/up “（使）慢下来;（使）减速;放松;延误;（使）平静下来” (动副短语)
eg：The growth of population has slowed down/up. 人口的增长速度已经慢了下来。
Slow your car down as you reach the school gate. 到学校大门时要放慢车速。
After a period of hard work,you need to slow down.努力工作一段时间之后, 你需要放松一下。

so far “迄今为止”, 常用于现在完成时的句子。
eg：He has received three letters so far. 到现在为止, 他已经收到了三封信。
The weather has been too cold so far this winter. 到目前为止, 今年的冬天一直很冷。
6. It's not that I don't want to be in the group.不是我不想参加这个组。
it 是虚义用法, 表示一种情况, 可理解为“这, 那”; that用来引导表语从句。
eg：It was not that I couldn't do it. 那不是我不能做那件事
not that 可以和but(that)连用, 连接两个表示转折的并列分句或主句, 意思是“不是......而是......”
eg：It is not that I don't want to see you, but that I have no time. 不是我不想见你, 而是我没时间。
7. “From now on, ”she says, “I will do my best to help you feel more confident.” “从现在起,”她说:“我要尽最大努力帮助你树立信心。”
from now on “从现在起;今后;从此”
eg：From now on, I'm going to work hard on my subjects. 我打算今后努力学习各门功课。
do/try one's best to do sth. “尽自己最大努力做某事”
eg：They did/tried their best to finish their work on time. 他们尽大努力按时完成自己的工作。
8. Then you can do your share, and it will be fair for everyone. 然后, 你可以做你自己的分内工作, 这对每个人都公平。
do one’s share/part “尽某人的责任;做分内工作”
eg：Everyone should do his share/part in a group. 组内的每个人都应该做自己分内的工作。

Learn to learn
A group works well if every member works hard. To make a group work well, it's best to give each member a role. Take a group of four as an example. In the group, there should be an organizer, a recorder, a speaker and a rule keeper. Then each member can do his/her share.
