教学目标 知识目标：1. New words: notice, information, below, better, anything, group 2. Useful expressions: worry about, have problems, feel well/ better, be happy to do sth, know a lot about… give sb some ideas 能力目标：1. 能熟练运用本单元的词汇，词组和句型组织语言 2. 能合理架构文章， 介绍社区开展的活动

Step1. Warm-up Have a discussion with the students Is there a community centre in your neighbourhood What do your neighbours do Do you think it’s helpful to have a community centre What kind of help do you want to get from the community centre Say: I think a community centre is helpful. Everything will be better with its help. It provides useful information. The volunteer would like to do anything to do anything to help. Write information, better, anything on BB and help the students to read and understand them. Ask the student to read the notice. Step2. Read Get the students to read the notice again and tell where they can get help A. Health Centre B. Art & Design Group C. Fix it Club 1). Mr Green is not feeling well these days. 2). There is something wrong with Lily’s fridge. Free talk Learn and understand the new words Read the notice Read and match
3). Miss Zhang worries about what to wear for a party. 4). Grandma Chen’s washing machine is not working well.
5). Mrs Ma does not know how to design her home. Play the tape for the students to listen and help Simon to complete his blog. Ask some questions to check the Ss’ understanding When people get help, what kind of help do they get in the neighbourhood How can Art & Design Group help What can the artists in this group do If there is something wrong with someone’s fridge, who can help Get the students to read the article again and find out what each paragraph is about Para1: Time and place of the “helping hands” meeting Para2: Different activities of the “helping hands” meeting Step3. Practice Provide the students with a fact sheet. The “ helping hands meeting” Time: this Sunday morning Place: in the hall of the community centre Activities: Beautiful Hair club—Cutting hair & designing puter Group—Check computers Delicious Kitchen—Teaching people how to cook delicious food
Ask Ss to plan and write their own passage about their neighbours. Ask the students to read their passage to the class. Step4. Homework Memorize the new words and expressions in this unit Read and recite the example article Finish off the exercises Listen and complete Read and answer Read and find out Make notes Write their own article
