Teaching Steps:
Steps Purposes
Step 1 Warming-up <3 min > 1.T plays a video before the class for Ss. 2.Reivision: 1) T first sets and example for Ss and ask Ss: Have you ever been to/visited… 2)Ss work in pairs and ask and answer. To get Ss focused in class and arouse Ss’ interest. The revision helps Ss review some words and structures in last unit and lead in the topic “yard sale”.
Step 2 Presentation <5 min> 1.Pics: T shows Ss some pictures of yard sale and get Ss understand the meaning of “yard sale”; 2.Ask& Answer: T shows Ss some pictures and asks Ss: How long have you kept/had/owned… T guides Ss to answer: I have had/kept/owned it since/for… . To help Ss master new words and phrases: yard sale, toy, bear, scarf, over there, maker, board, bring back, sweet memories. Besides, helps Ss understand the new structure.
Step 3 Practice <15min> 1.Ask& Answer : T guides Ss to ask and answer in two to practice the new words and structures; 2.Pair work: T first sets and example for Ss and then guides Ss to work in pairs to have a role play: A: Hi, Jimmy. How long have you… this/that… B: I’ve … it since/for… . A: Why are you selling it B: Because… . A:How much is it B: You can have it for … . 3.Listening: T guides Ss to listen to the record and finish exercise 1b. 4.Reading: Ss read after the record. While reading, Ss pay attention to the intonation. To help Ss better master the new words, phrases and structures. And help Ss improve their ability of speaking. To consolidate what Ss have learned and improve their ability of listening and speaking.
Step4 Consolidation <16min> 1.Guessing: T guides Ss to make a prediction of the listening record in 2a: A: Can we give away … B: OK. I have… . A: Can we give away … B: No, I want to keep it/them. A:Why It’s/They’re … . B: Because I’ve had it/them since/for… 2.Listening: T guides Ss to listen to the record and finish exercise 2a&2b. 3. Reading: T guides Ss to read 2d and answer: 1) What does Amy give away to children 2) How long have she had these things 4. Blanks filling: Ss listen to 2d and fill in blanks. 5. Role-play: Ss work in pairs and have a role play. To help Ss master the predicting skill of listening and improve their ability of listening and speaking. To improve Ss’ reading skill and consolidate what they have learned.

副词anymore亦可写作any more,常用于否定句的末尾,意思是“再也(不);(不)再”。not … anymore相当于not … any longer。

3. Because I’ve had it since I was a baby.
since(自从……)常常引导短语或从句,用于现在完成时的句子中。since引出从句时,从句一般使用过去时。
自从我住在这里,这个村子变了很多。
The village has changed a lot since I lived here.
自从我上次见到你以来, 你改变了很多。
You've changed a lot since I last saw you.
介词for也常用在现在完成时的句子中,后面引出表示时间的词或短语,说明某种情况已经持续了一段时间。

艾米已经拥有这本书3年了。
Amy has had this book for three years.
她已经拥有这个旧的面包机超过10年了。
She has had the old bread maker for more than ten years.
a couple of有两种意思:其一,表示具体的数量“两个”,指两个相同的人或物体;其二,表示数量不定的“少数几个”,作这种虚指的用法时,具体意思往往视上下文和具体的语境而决定。
我看见有两个人出去了。
I saw a couple of men get out.
她每天早上要慢跑(jog)几英里。
She jogs a couple of miles every morning.
