很多事情,她都不能做。
be unable to do sth. 意思是“不能做某事”,可以用 be not able to do sth. 替换。
eg:He is unable to walk. = He isn't able to walk.他不能
走路。
Language Points
[拓展]unable 是 able 加上否定前缀un构成的, 类似的词还有 unhappy不开心的;unfortunate 不幸的; uncomfortable 不舒服的; unclear 不清楚的; unfriendly 不友好的, 等等。
eg:He is unhappy today. = He is not happy today.他今天不开心。
2. She has a special telephone that is hers alone.
她有一个只属于她的特殊电话。
that is hers alone 为定语从句,修饰限定前面的名词telephone.
eg:Do you know the girl that (who) is dressed in red
你认识那个穿红衣服的女孩吗?
Yesterday we visited a factory that (which) produces
paper. 昨天我们参观了一家造纸厂。
hers “她的”,名词性物主代词,后不加名词。
eg:This isn't Wang Mei's umbrella. Hers is red.
这不是王梅的雨伞。她的是红色的。
3. She can answer it just by saying“hello”.
她只要说“喂”就可以接电话。
by saying “hello”为介词短语作方式状语,by表示“靠,用,通过,凭借”, 后加动词的ing形式。
eg:He made a living by selling vegetables.
他通过卖菜谋生。

使用因特网,你可以在家里购物。
by+交通工具 表示凭借、乘坐某种交通工具 She went to Beijing by air.她乘飞机去了北京。
by+doing sth. 意为“通过做某事”,表示方式、方法、手段等 You can improve your English by speaking more.你可以通过多说的方式提高英语。
by+地点. 在……近旁;在身边;靠近 On a cold evening, it is pleasant to sit by the fire.在寒冷的冬天,坐在火堆旁是令人愉快 的。
by+时间 不迟于;在什么之前 Be here by four o'clock. 4:00之前到这儿。
[拓展] “by ”的用法

当简看她儿子跑着踢球的时候,她欢呼。
cheer on 意思是“以喝彩声鼓励;为……加油”,动副词短语 We all cheered him on. 我们都为他加油了。
cheer for 意思是“为……喝彩叫好;为……鼓励加油” I also cheer for myself sometimes. 有时我也为自己加油。
cheer up 意思是“使变得更高兴,振奋起来”,宾语一般是sb.或oneself; 动副词短语 You should cheer yourself up.你自己应该振作起来。

常用于:It is/was a pity (for sb.) to do/not to do sth.
很遗憾(某人)做/不做某事。
eg:It's a pity for me to be absent from the important meeting.
很遗憾我不能参加那个重要会议。
It is/was a pity+that从句 很遗憾……
What a pity! 多遗憾啊!
That's a pity! 真遗憾!
eg:It's a pity that we can't go to the party.
很遗憾我们不能去参加晚会。
