It's a pity that the old house was knocked down.

His suggestion was knocked down. 他的建议被否定了。
Language Points
2. At once the tree broke out in blossom. 树马上就开花了。
at once = right away 意思是“立刻; 马上”
eg：I will finish my homework at once 我立即去完成作业。
broke out in blossom 意思是“盛开; 怒放”
broke out 还有“爆发”的意思
eg：The war between them will break out. 他们之间的战争将要爆发。

3. The little boy stretched out with his arms, put them around the giant's neck and kissed him.

stretch out 意思是“伸出; 伸直; 延长”。
eg：He stretched out his hand and caught the falling plate.
他一伸手接住了正在跌落的盘子。
They stretched out on the grass.
他们伸直四肢平躺在草地上。
The meeting has stretched out for half an hour.
会议已延长了半个小时。
4. Along with them came the spring.
春天也随着他们到来了。
along with 意思是“和······一起; 随着”
eg：I like to bring my pet along with me.
我喜欢带着我的宠物。
5. Ever since then, the giant's garden has been a children's playground.
从那时起,巨人的花园就成了孩子的游乐场。
ever since then = since then 意思是“从那时起, 从那以后”
eg：Ever since then, I've been longing to meet him face to face. 从那时起, 我一直渴望亲自去见他。
Since then, he has spent much of his time researching and developing new varieties. 从那时起,他就一直致力于这项研究以及新品种的开发。

I really enjoyed The Selfish Giant when I first read it. This story is about a selfish g_____who later changed. At first he thought only about himself. He didn't care about others at all. He didn't like the children playing in his g_______, and he drove them away. The following spring, his garden was c________ with snow, and the cold winds kept the birds away.
