写作分析
本单元以“伟大的探险家”为话题，记述关于探险家的经历及事件，培养学生综合运用语言的能力，形成勇于探索的精神。写关于“探险家的故事”方面的短文一般从以下几个方面入手：
1.谈论的探险家应该是大家所熟悉的；
2.描述他们的过去、成长、成就时，一般用过去时态；
3.描述他们过去或现在的生活情况，表述自己的感受等。
本单元常见的作文话题：介绍探险家；探索大自然的奥秘；探索太空……

最后，西班牙的国王和王后对打通通向印度的海上路线很感兴趣，给他提供了船只和海员，他终于实施了这一计划，并发现了新大陆。

标准范文 Christopher Columbus discovered the New World on the 12th of October, 1492. He spent 18 years planning for the voyage which he made across the Atlantic Ocean. He talked and argued with sailors and even kings. He said,“By sailing west across the great ocean, I am sure I can reach lands that have never been visited by Europeans." But few people believed him and he was laughed at. Finally, the Spanish king and queen, who were interested in finding a sea route to India, offered him ships and men so that he could carry out this plan.
