Step 1 自主学习
【新词自查】
根据句意及汉语提示完成句子。

Step 2 情景导入
【参考案例】
The teacher chooses a student in the classroom and has a conversation with him.
T:Where are you
S1:I am in the classroom.
T:What are you doing
S1:I am answering your questions.
The teacher writes“What are you doing?”on the blackboard and asks in Chinese:这是什么时态?引导学生回答,复习现在进行时态的意义及结构。再问这位学生:“What were you doing when I came in?”,引入过去进行时态,板书课题,引出本节课的教学任务。
设计意图:通过过去学习的现在进行时态加深学生对过去进行时态的理解及区分。学生易于理解和接受。

Step 3 完成教材Grammar Focus的任务
【操作案例】
1.学生大声朗读Grammar Focus中的句子。
2.学生分析Grammar Focus中的句子的语法结构,引导学生归纳语法知识。
设计意图:强化本单元所学的句型、语法。
Step 4 完成教材4a-4c的任务
【操作案例】
1.学生根据4a中的表格提示写出含有when和while的句子,并邀请部分同学将自己的句子书写在黑板上,统一纠正,然后学生朗读句子。
2.学生完成4b,核对答案。
3.学生根据自己的实际情况完成4c中的表格,然后和同伴用表格进行问答。

【知识点拨】
过去进行时
1.基本概念:过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某段时间内正在进行的动作。这一特定的过去时间除有上下文暗示以外,一般用时间状语来表示。
2.结构:was/were(not)+动词 ing。
3.一般过去时态、现在进行时与过去进行时的比较。
(1)一般过去时表示在过去某个时间发生过的动作或存在的状态。
例句:David wrote a letter to his friend last night.大卫昨晚给他的朋友写了封信。(信写完了)
(2)现在进行时表示某一动作正在发生。
例句:Listen,the girl is singing in the next room.听,那个女孩正在隔壁房间里唱歌。(正在发生)
(3)过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。
例句:Mary was doing her homework when her mother was cooking.当玛丽的妈妈正在做饭时,玛丽正在做作业。(过去进行时)
