Task
I. Teaching aims and learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. finish a questionnaire and talk about their own homes;
2. talk about their dream homes;
3. use the useful expressions to write about their dream homes.

Step 1 Pre-writing
1. Review: Talk about Miss Xu’s home
T: Are you interested in my home
T: Good, I’d like to tell you about my home. I live in a flat. There are six floors in my flat. Of course, I don’t have a garden. There are three people in my flat. They are my husband, my son and I. Do you want to know more about the rooms in my flat
Show them some photos of Miss Xu’s home.
【设计意图:通过介绍教师自己的家激发学生的兴趣,激起他们介绍自己家的欲望,同时在介绍中呈现本节课的部分词汇,为之后学生的输出做好铺垫。】
2. Presentation
T: Just now, Whose home did we talk about Xu Wenwen’s. Yes, so what is my last name/first name
S: Learn about last name and first name with the help of the two photos. (Donald Trump& Xu Yuhang)
3. Complete a questionnaire
T: Well, I showed you my home. Now I’d like to know yours. So would you please first complete the questionnaire in Part A on page 16
4. Talk about your home
T: Ask and answer the following questions with your partner.
(1) Where is your home
(2) What kind of home do you live in
(3) How many floors are there in your home
(4) Do you have a garden
(5) How many rooms are there in your home
(6) What are they
(7) How many people live in your home Who are they
(8) What things do you have in your home
【设计意图:先完成一份调查问卷,然后让学生根据自己所填的信息与同伴展开对话,让学生由写过渡到说,让学生有话可说。】
5. Simon’s article
T: Do you like your own home Do you want a better one
T: Simon also has his dream home and he writes an article about it. By the way, where does Simon come from (The UK.) So British English is used in his article.Now let’s take a look at it.
T: Read the article and answer the questions.
(1) Where is Simon’s dream home
(2) How many floors are there in his dream home
(3) What’s outside his home
T: Can you tell me where you found the answers
T: Yes, in Para 1.
T: Read the article again and fill in the table.
T: Where did you find the answers?
T: Another question for you: What can Simon do on each floor
6. The structure of Simon’s article
In paragraph 1, he writes about where his dream home is, how many floors there are and what’s outside his dream home.
In paragraph 2, he writes about what’s on the ground floor and what he can do on that floor.
In paragraph 3, he writes about what’s on the first floor and what he can do on that floor.
In paragraph 4, he writes about what’s on the second floor and what he can do on that floor.
7. competition
Try to retell Simon’s article with the help of some key phrases.

8. Talk about your dream home
T: You know our task today is to write about your dream home, so Simon’s article is a good model for you. Before we begin our writing, I’d like to hear you talk about your dream homes. Ask and answer the following questions with your partners.
【设计意图:在正式写作之前,先让学生围绕问题展开对话,让他们在说的过程中巩固和汲取有关词汇和句式,为自己的稍后的写作做好准备工作。】
Step 2 While-writing
T: It’s time for you to write about your dream homes. Don’t forget you can use Simon’s article as a model. Here are some useful expressions for you.
T: Pay attention to this table. We will evaluate your writing according to this table. Make sure you write all the main points. Try to use correct expressions and not to make mistakes. Remember to have a good handwriting. If you have excellent expressions and good ideas, you’ll get extra points. Now let’s begin our writing.
【设计意图:在正式写作之前,再次向学生呈现文章框架和有用表达,让学生更易着手写作。此外,向学生呈现写作评分标准,让学生在写作过程中知道需要注意哪些方面,规范其写作。】
Step 3 Post-writing
1. Evaluate their writing
T: Exchange your article with your partner and grade it according to the assessment table here. If you find some mistakes, try to correct them. If you find some good expressions or ideas, you can underline them. You can ask me for help if you have any problem.
2. Give advice
T: After grading, please write down your advice on your partner’s article.
If the article gets 18-20 points, you can write down “Well done! Keep on!”
If it gets 15-17 points, you can write down “Not bad. Need to practice more!”
If it gets 10-14 points, you can write down “Not good. Need to practice a lot!”
3. Enjoy some good articles
T: If your partner’s article gets 18-20 points, please stand up and read the article out.
【设计意图:写作完成后,同伴之间相互交换自己的作文,学生根据评分标准给自己同伴的作文打分并给出相应的意见。这样相互批改不但调动了学生的兴趣,也加深了学生对如何写好一篇文章的规范的印象。通过批改他人的作文,学生也在内心检视了自己的作文,起到了取长补短的作用。】
