I. pre-task Show some pictures about some festivals both in China and foreign countries. Ask the students tell the corresponding festivals. Teach the new word: festival 节日 Look at the pictures and tell the festivals. Learn the word: festival
II while-task Show a picture about the Dragon Boat Festival. Ask the students some questions: What is this festival What do people do on the Dragon Boat Festival To lead in “dragon boat races” and “rice dumplings”. Teach the word: race Ask the students a question: Why do people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival to lead in Qu Yuan. We celebrate it to remember Qu Yuan. Teach the new words: celebrate; remember Ask the students when the Dragon Boat Festival is. Help the students know how to express the lunar date. Before coming into the story of the festival, teach the new words: king and battle. Play the cassette. Ask the students to read the text after the tape. Then emphasize some new words and key points. Play the cassette. Ask the students to read the text with the tape. Then invite three students to read the story to the class. Read the passage about Qu Yuan again. Find out the past forms of the given verbs below. is; take; lose; do; love; die; jump Ask the students to complete some sentences with the past forms of the given words Look at the pictures and answer some questions according to them. Show two pictures. Teach two kinds of rice dumplings: rice dumplings with meat and rice dumplings with beans.
