I. While task Show two pictures and teach the new words and phrases: a cigarette end; injured Ask the students read the contents on page 78 and answer the following questions: 1). I. While task Let the students have a revision about the last class by filling the blanks Ask the students “What should we do when there is a big fire ” to lead in “We should dial 119 and call the firemen. By asking “Can firemen put out fires just with their hands ” to lead in some tools. Teach the new words (different tools) Show the picture of a hose, ask the students “What does a fireman use a hose to do ” give the two sentences: A fireman uses a hose to put out fires. A hose is used to put out fires. “use sth. to do” and “be used to do” Practice the use of the two phrases according to the other three pictures. Let the students to do pair work like this: S1: What does a fireman use … to do in a fire S2: He uses ... / … is used to … Play the cassette, ask the students to listen and repeat the text and read it together. Let the students do an interview. Four people in one group. One should be the fireman, and the other three should be the reporter. Review what they have learnt in the last class.
