The Analysis of Teaching Material
It talks about Part B of Unit 2, My Family, PEP Primary English, Book 3. It includes 3 parts: Let’s learn, Let’s chant and Start to read. It is an important unit in this book. The lesson is mainly about the family, which is related to our daily life. So it is great helpful to raise learning interests of students.
The Analysis of the Students
The students are in Grade 3. They are active and curious, interested in the new things. After learning English for several months, they have a little basic English background knowledge. So the teacher should attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language.
Teaching Aims
1. Language Knowledge
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read, recognize, and use these words: sister, brother, grandmother, grandma, grandfather, grandpa, family, and, these sentences: Hi, I'm Mike. This is my family. Look! This is my grandmother. This is my...And they will be able to know how to introduce their family.
2. Language Skills
By the end of the lesson, the students can use the new words and sentences correctly and skillfully in the real situation, and their abilities of listening and speaking will be developed.
3.Emotional Aims
In this lesson, the emotional aim is to foster students' ability of working in group, to foster their initiative and creativeness, to foster their consciousness of good-cooperation and proper competition, and to guide them to work together actively and train the spirits of team-work. The most important is that everyone should love his family.
The Key and Difficult Points
The key point of this lesson is to make sure that students can use the new words and sentences correctly and skillfully, and to develop students’ interest in English. The difficult point is the pronunciation of the word “this”.
The Teaching Methods and Learning Strategies
In this lesson, I will mainly use “TPR teaching method”, “Directly teaching method”, “Task-based teaching method” and “Communicative teaching method”, and so on. The learning strategies are “Cooperative learning” and “Individual learning”.

Make full use of the multimedia,such as chant, pictures, video to mobilize students enthusiasm.

Greeting and Warming up 3mins Greet with the students and play the Chinese song “让爱住我家” for the students. Say “Hello” with each other and listen to the music. Form a better English learning surrounding for the students, and make students have a relax mood. And at the same time, it provides situations to review the learnt knowledge for the next step.
Presentation 15mins 1.Show the photo of the teacher’s family.Teach the new words one by one.Show the new sentence structure and teach students how to introduce their family. Look at the photo.Read the words after the teacher.Help Mike to introduce his family. Present the new words and sentences in the situation, which relates to the students’ real life experiences, to help the students understand the language easily and naturally.
Practice 12mins Present the exercises.Give students a free space to show their abilities. Fill in the blanks. Make dialogues through pair work to introduce their family . Practice the words and develop students ability of speaking through a true situation. The activity is to develop students’ ability of communication, and also, their ability of cooperation will be well developed.
Consolidation and Extension 6mins Show the exercise: Start to read. 1.Finish Read and Match by themselves.2.Check the answer. Consolidate the knowledge and check if students can use the knowledge correctly and skillfully.
Conclusion 2mins Guide students to summarize what we have learnt. Check if students have mastered the knowledge.
Homework 2mins Show the homework on PPT. Copy the words three times and try to draw a beautiful family tree. Let students do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they have learned.
