As usual, Amber was hurrying to catch the yellow school bus. Luckily, the traffic lights turned green as she was to cross the road, so she made it.When the bus passed the golden arches (拱形门) of McDonald's, they reminded her of a hamburger. She hadn't had breakfast that morning because the fruit salad on the blue dish didn't look delicious at all. However, Amber remembered that she was still on a diet. So she was really in a black mood.
You may notice that several colors were used in the above story to describe Amber's morning. In fact, colors influence your life deeply. Take language for example, you may describe a sick person as being “a bit green” and a depressed (沮丧的) person as “feeling blue”. In short, colors add interest to daily conversations.
Besides, colors can be used in many parts of your daily life. Have you ever thought about why many school buses and taxis are painted yellow, and stop signs red Since yellow is the most eye-catching color, it can catch people's attention, especially in heavy traffic. Red usually shows warning,so some traffic signs and hot-water taps use this color.
The colors of a dining environment possibly decide how much you eat. Most fast-food restaurants are often decorated in bright colors such as red, yellow, orange, and white to increase people's appetites (胃口). Because bright colors are natural colors found in many foods, and, therefore, able to raise people's spirits. Blue, in comparison with bright colors, is said to lower people's appetites. For those who are on a diet, blue dishes and bowls might help!
“Morning, Amber! What happened You look a bit green,” said Violet, Amber's best friend.

The word or phrase that you use to open your e-mail account may provide a key to your personality, according to a British psychologist. Helen Petrie, professor of human/computer interaction at City University in London, analyzed the responses of 1,200 Britons who participated in a survey funded by CentralNic, an Internet company. The results were recently published on CentralNic's website.
Petrie identifies three main password “genres”. Nearly half of those surveyed are “Family oriented”. These people use their own name or nickname, the name of a child, partner, or pet, or a birth date as their password. They rarely use a computer and have strong family ties. “They choose passwords that show people or events with emotional value,” says Petrie. One third of participants were fans,
using the names of athletes, singers, movie stars fictional characters or sports teams. Petrie says fans are young and want to connect themselves with the lifestyle represented by a famous person. The third main group of participants are “cryptics” because they pick difficult passwords or some letters, numbers, and symbols randomly such as “Jxa+157”. Petrie says cryptics are the most security-conscious (安全意识) group. They make the safest but least interesting choices.
Passwords are revealing for two reasons. First, because they are invented on the spot. “Since you are focused on getting into a system, for example your email account, you're likely to write down something that comes quickly to mind,” says Petrie. “In this sense passwords tap into things that are just below the surface of consciousness. Also, to remember your password, you pick something that will stick in your mind. You may unconsciously choose something of particular emotional significance.”
