合并
在句子中作条件状语的从句被称为条件状语从句。If引导一个条件状语从句当主句是一般将来时时, if引导的从句必须用现在时来,表示将来可能发生的动作或存在的状态。
用法
if条件句的主句和从句的时态搭配一般有下面几种情况:
1.主句是______________,if从句用____________。
If he runs, he'll get there in time.
如果跑的话,他就会及时赶到那儿。
I will tell her the answer if she asks me.
如果她问我,我就会告诉她答案。
一般将来时
一般现在时
2.主句是含有may/might/can/must/should等情态动词的句子,if从句用一般现在时。
If it stops snowing, we can go out.
如果雪停了,我们就可以出去。
If you want to lose weight, you must/should eat less bread.如果想减肥,你必须/应该少吃面包。
3.主句是祈使句,if从句用一般现在时。
Don't go to play football if you don't finish your homework.如果你没完成作业,就不要去踢足球。
[拓展] if还可以译为“是否”,用来引导宾语从句。此时if和whether是同义词,可以互换。如果or not放在whether所引导的从句句尾,则可以用if来替换。但当or not紧跟在whether之后时,只能用whether。
