Lesson planning for Revision module A
(From NSE students’ book 2B)
Ⅰ Background information and prediction:
1. Students and teaching materials(学情分析): My students are in Class Four, Grade Eight. There are 61 students, 27 girls and 34 boys. And the whole class has different levels of English, but most of them have high English level in the class. What's more, the students have learned the knowledge of Module1 to Module5, they have learned the structures and the usage of sense verbs and the present perfect tense, so the students can quickly review the knowledge and do the exercise about the two grammars “Sense verbs” “The present perfect tense”. The listening and reading parts aren’t difficult for them. And the topic of speaking is about the travel experience, therefore all of the students will be interested in the speaking discussion. And they will be especially active in the class. In all, the students will cooperate with the teacher to finish the teaching and learning tasks.

Ⅲ Teaching aims:
By the end of the lesson, students are able to:
1. Knowledge aims
1) Mainly master and consolidate the use of sense verbs, the present perfect tense and past simple;
2) Master the key sentences from the text book, for example:
I feel nervous when I speak Chinese.
Have you ever won any prizes before
I haven’t done much exercise since I got my computer last year.
I have had him for three months now.
2. Ability aims
1) can write and talk about one’s travel experience with the present perfect, present simple and past simple.
2) strengthen the reading abilities of scanning and skimming.
3) can understand the listening material and learn the listening skills
3. Emotion / moral aim:
1) improve the interest of learning English by cooperating with other classmates;
2) cultivate the awareness of cooperation and competition between students.
IV Teaching important points:
1) Review and master the use of sense verbs and the present perfect tense with the exercises in the text book;
2) How to find the detail answers for the questions according to the listening and reading passage (Master the reading skills )
V Teaching difficult points:
1)How to identify the use of simple past and present perfect tense and how to write the passage about one’s travel experience.
2) Master the structures, patterns and the symbol adverbials in the present perfect tense

Ⅷ Teaching procedures:
Step1 Warming up and revision (2mins)
T: Good morning , class! Give a warm welcome to our teachers. Today we’ll learn Revision module A. We need to review some grammars. We’ll mainly talk about the Sense Verbs and the Present Perfect Tense.
T: Before learning the class, Let’s enjoy some pictures and fill in the blanks.
The music _________ really nice/beautiful .
They _________handsome now.
Em, the food ________delicious.
T: Pay attention to the words in red. We call them “Sense Verbs”
(设计意图:快速导入本课, 利用艺术节图片让学生快速回忆起什么是表感觉和知觉的感官动词,即Sense verbs,从而有目的地复习, 激发学生的学习兴趣。
Step2 Review sense verbs: Presentation and practice (6mins)
T: Ask and lead the students review the sentences about sense verbs in the text book .
Ss: Read the sentences from the book.
T: Good. Can you say out the Chinese meanings of these words
Ss: Answer together.
(意图:可以引导学生关注到此处复习重点——感官动词的小结:感官动词+形容词; 否定借助助动词do / does /did)
T: Good. (Ask the students to give themselves a big hand)
T: OK. Now let’s do some exercise about it.
(设计意图: 运用教材内容,描述图片, 操练感官动词, 学以致用。)
练习一:Exercise1 (Fill in the blanks with feel; look; smell; sound; taste. )

Step3 Review the present perfect tense: Presentation and practice ( 15minutes)
T: Ask the students remind where we learn the present perfect tense.
Ss: We learned it from Module2 to Module5.
Ss: Read and review the sentences from Module2. Then review the structures and patterns and the rules of past participle.
T: Ask the students to read the sentences from Module3. Explain the usage of the words(already, just, ever, yet, never)
T:Have the students read the exercise4 and complete it. (意图:完成时态的相关知识复习,加深学生对现在完成时的理解)
练习四 Exercise4(Complete the report with already, just and yet.)(Page43)
Yesterday, I went to the cinema to meet my friends John, Tim and Linda. Generally speaking, the lesson basically achieved the expected effect.
1. Students were so motivated by the pictures about the Art Festival and be interested in describing the holidays that they took active part in the class discussion.
2. And the exercises from the text book fit for them.
3. And the students could quickly get the ideas of the reading part and finish the tasks in speaking part, which means that this lesson have reached the teaching objectives.
However, there still were some problems of it:
1. Not enough time was given to students to do the exercise, and the difficult sentences such as the sentences with present perfect tense were not explained in details and students still had some difficulties in understanding how to identify the present perfect tense and past simple.
2. More language practice will be explained for students in the future lessons.
3. There are so many contents, so the end of the lesson was finished a little hastily. The speaking part need to be finished fast. I need to minus some exercise.
