过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一时段正在进行的动作。
2．基本句式结构

一般疑问句 Was/Were＋主语＋动词的现在分词＋其他？
肯定回答：Yes, 人称代词＋was/were.
否定回答：No, 人称代词＋wasn't/weren't.
—Were you working on the farm at that moment 那时你们正在农场工作吗？
—Yes, we were./No, we weren't.
是的，我们在工作。/不， 我们没在工作。

特殊疑问句 ①疑问词(非主语)＋was/were＋主语＋动词的现在分词＋其他？

3．常用的时间状语
常和过去进行时连用的时间状语有at…last night, at this time yesterday, from…to…yesterday morning等。
