教材分析 本课是冀教版Book 5的第五课,是一节童话故事阅读课。本课通过巨人对孩子态度的转变,说明“分享”的意义,“和大家一起分享的快乐才是真正的快乐”。
学情分析 到九年级,学生对英语语言的学习已经有了一定的基础,词汇量、阅读能力、写作能力都处于上升阶段,如何让学生在难度逐渐增加、词汇量逐渐增大的情况下,保持并提高英语学习的兴趣,是九年级英语教学的关键。
教学目标 语言知识与能力目标 1. 学习词汇:stretch, selfish, neck, peek;学习短语:peek up, knock down, crawl through, reach up to, break out in blossom, ever since then.2. 锻炼找中心句和复述课文的能力。学会分角色表演课文。
情感态度与价值观 通过本课学习,让学生体会到“分享”的快乐,乐于分享,关爱他人,快乐自己。
教学重点 培养学生的阅读理解能力掌握并运用核心词汇复述课文,表演课文。
教学难点 1. 课文的理解和复述课文。2. 分角色表演课文。

Step1 Greetings Greetings. 师生互相问候可以增进师生情谊,有助于活跃课堂气氛,体现师生的平等对话
Pre-reading Warming up and pre-reading1.T: Class, we’ve learned a lot about fairy tales, such as The Ugly Duckling, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Giant. They left us an forgettable impression in our childhood. Let’s review The Giant(I) . Who can retell it Present a group of four pictures.Action chain .Ask the students to describe each picture.2. Present another two pictures, let students discuss them and predict the ending of the story.3. Word guessing . Ask the students to try to guess the meanings of the new words. And explain how they get the answer.Check the preparation of the new words.(I give the explanation of each word and make students guess what the words are.) 1.回顾上节课的内容,为新课做铺垫。对故事结局的预测可以引起学生的兴趣,激发他们的学习热情。2. 猜单词可以训练学生专注聆听和快速记忆单词的能力。
While-reading 1.SkimmingAsk the students to listen to the tape and judge whether the statements true of false.2.Scanning1) Ask the students to read the passage to match the main idea with each paragraph . Let the students underline the sentences on the book. ( Individual work)2) Read the lesson again and fill in the blanks. Tick the sentences mentioned .The students are still needed to underline the sentences on the book. (Team work)3.Read aloud. Let the students read along the tape .Try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation. 训练学生找准文章的中心思想训练学生查读的阅读能力大声朗读,模仿标准的语音语调。好段好句的背诵,是学生语言知识积累的必要途径。
Post-reading 1. Discussion:(1)What’s your first impression of this giant (2)What’s your opinion toward this giant Let the students work in groups and discuss their ideas. Each group chooses proper words to express their ideas. 2.Activities:You can choose either of the task.Task 1 Play roles as the giant and the children . Act the story out in your group.Task 2Retell the story in your own words.3.Think about itWhat can we learn from the fairy tale Sharing is the most beautiful thing in the world.Selfish isn’t a merit to all of us.Helping others means making yourself happy 1.锻炼学生说的能力,同时检查对本课所学知识的运用。同时也从思想高度认识到故事对我们的启示。2.两个不同任务的设置可以满足不同学生的学情,让他们在课堂上尽情展示,鼓励学生勇敢自信!3.让学生自主思考“这节课你学到了什么?”让学生感悟教育意义,体现英语课堂对学生思维品质的关注。
Homework Book Cover and Synopsis: Create a book cover for The Giant. On the front of the book cover draw a picture that represents the story and its characters and on the back of the cover write a short summary of what the fairy tale is about. 创作“巨人的花园”一书的封面和写摘要,再配上相应的插图,调动学生的多种感官,既检测了知识又培养了能力。
