教材分析 Analysis of the teaching material This lesson is in Unit 2: Great People, Grade 9, Hebei Education Press. The topic of this unit is about great people. The purpose of this unit is to get the students to learn about the great people who made big contributions to the world. Their interests, goals and other qualities made big differences to their own lives. Meanwhile, they set a good example for the students. The grammar focus is Attributive Clause and Adverbial Clause. Lesson 10 is a passage about the story of Helen Keller. From this class, the students are able to tell the story of Helen Keller in English. At the same time, they can learn her spirit. No matter when they meet any difficulty, they should never give themselves up.
教学目标 Teaching goals Learning some new words and phrases. Understanding the whole passage. 3. Learning Helen Keller’s spirit : Never giving up; helping others. 4. Being able to be a big person like Helen Keller.

教学过程 Teaching procedures Step 1. Lead-in Lead in the class by playing a short video about Helen Keller. And then ask the students some questions: Could Helen Keller see and hear How did she know the world “She knew the world by touching.” By showing the short video, the students can have a deep impression about Helen Keller and are eager to learn this lesson. Step 2. Fast reading Get the students to skim the passage and put the main idea of each paragraph in correct orders so that the students can have a whole understanding about the life of Helen Keller.When the other students write down their answers, one student should glue them on the blackboard so the students can finish next task easily based on the main idea of each paragraph. (

Step 7. Homework Get the students to write a report about Huang Yanggang, Zhang Haidi and Stephen Hawking by checking their information on the Internet. The purpose is to get the students to know about more disabled people and well-known people so that they can have them as their models to face any difficulties with strong wills. (
