此结构中,“It”是形式主语,真正的主语是后面的“to+do sth”。学点训练:翻译下列句子。

4. 再仔细观察下面几个句子:
(1) There is a very big river between their school and the village.
(2) There is no bridge.

我们知道了:这些句子都使用了一种句型,即:“There+be+sth+在某处”译为“在某处(存在)有某物”使用这一结构时,be动词得注意要用“就近原则”如句4、句5。
5. 看这个句子:
One 11-year-old boy, Liangliang, crosses the river every school day.
句中,“11-year-old”构成一个复合形容词,修饰名词boy。特别注意“year”用单数形式。这一构词结构较常见。又如:
一个八天的旅行: trip
一本30叶的书: a book
一幢18间屋的房子: house
6.咱再来观察以下两个句子:

(2) He likes his father.
我们注意到了:句1中的“like”是介词,与前面的be动词一起组成“be like”,译为“ ”;而句2中的“like”则是动词,译为 。
