【教材分析】
本课属于冀教版《英语》九年级上册Unit 7 Work for Peace。本单元以peace为话题,要求学生能够谈论争端以及解决方法。
本课是这一单元的第三课时,是一篇阅读课文。本课以先以故事叙述的方式讲述了圣经中诺亚方舟的故事,从而解释了鸽子与橄榄枝代表和平的原因。学生通过学习本课,了解了西方文化,增强他们对和平的期待。
单词表中虽然有flood,snake,但学生已经掌握,所以只在文本中复习,而world event与opening ceremony可能是学生的难点。这篇课文篇幅相对较长,诺亚方舟的故事占据了五段中的前四段,帮助学生梳理故事是本节课的重点。最后一段紧扣单元主题,应该通过拓展落实情感态度价值观方面的教育。
【教学目标】
语言知识目标: 掌握以下生词词组:olive, flood, lock, world event, opening ceremony.
语言技能目标: 能够通过复述诺亚方舟的故事解释鸽子与橄榄枝代表和平的原因。
情感目标:通过了解诺亚方舟故事以及相关讨论,认识到生命的宝贵以及和平的珍贵。了解西方文化,培养学生跨文化交际意识。
【教学重点与难点】
教学重点:能够通过复述诺亚方舟的故事解释鸽子与橄榄枝代表和平的原因。
教学难点:1. 掌握短语world event, opening ceremony.
2. 理解下面句子: he put two animals of every kind on the ship.
3. 区别too many 与too much。

【教学过程】
Step One: Presentation
Show students the picture of Expo 2019 in Bejing. Talk with students about it and show new words and phrases:world event, opening ceremony, olive branch, lock, fly dove
呈现方式: PPT
设计意图:从时政2019北京世园会开幕式引入本节课出现的两个重要短语world event和 opening ceremony,进而到中国要不能闭关锁国(lock),中国崛起带给世界的不是战争,而是和平与发展,学习olive branch 与dove,呼应本单元peace这一主题。
Step Two: Engagement
Show students a video clip and ask them to answer the following questions after watching the video.
Q1. Was Noah a good man
Q2: Did Noah live in a happy time
Q3: What did Noah let fly out of ship
呈现方式:视频
设计意图:利用视频让学生形象地了解诺亚方舟地故事,进行相应的语言输入。视频中一些画面将用来服务下一环节的活动。
Step Three: Reading and Learning
Ask students to read the passage and answer the following questions:
Q1. Why did god send a flood
Q2: What was on Noah’s ship
Q3: Why people fly doves in most opening ceremonies of the Olympics
设计意图:设计问题让学生通过文本阅读进一步丰富对诺亚方舟故事的一些细节理解:为什么诺亚要造方舟,方舟上都有什么,为什么鸽子能与和平联系起来。
Check answers and instruct students to understand the story by writing key words and phrases on the whiteboard.
设计意图:通过板书关键字帮助学生梳理情节,理解课文。
Ask students to Match the pictures with the sentences in Let’s Do It 1 and then number the sentences in the correct order. Choose some students to check the answer.
设计意图:把视频材料与课文内容结合起来,帮助学生理解课后练习Let’s Do It 1中的重点句子,考察学生对文本脉络的把握。
Work with students to fulfill the blanks to complete the story of Noah.
设计意图:通过填空完成短文的形式在强化world event、opening ceremony等短语的同时处理了课后练习Let’s Do It 2中的介词选择。镶嵌的too many,locked等知识点与后面练习做铺垫。它还为学生依靠图片复述课文提供帮助。
Ask students read again and help them to correct some mistakes in pronunciation.
设计意图:纠音并让学生进一步熟悉课文,为语言输出的复述部分做好准备。
Step Four: Practice
Ask students to retell the passage with the help of pictures
设计意图:语言输出,强化对文本理解。.
Ask students to find and correct the mistakes in the following sentences. Four students can be chosen to give the answers and explanations.
There are too much people in the park.
Noah let the giraffe come into the cage and lock the door.
They use a pen draw on the paper.
The dove and the olive branch stand friendship and peace.
设计意图:进行语言知识的训练。.
Step Five:Discussion
Ask students to think about Thanos’s(灭霸)behavior of killing half of people in the film Avengers. Encourage students to value other’s life and peace.
设计意图:结合最新上映的《复联》电影让学生讨论灭霸毁灭生灵的做法,引导学生认识到珍惜他人生命,珍惜和平的重要意义。
