Learning Aims:
1. To learn about the Chinese kites from the listening material.
2. To talk about outdoor activities.
Teaching Emphases and Difficulties:
1. Be able to grasp the history of Chinese kites.
2. Understand three different listening tips.
Teaching Aids: the computer, i-pads, the posters from students
Teaching Process:
Step 1: Free talk.
Step 2: Have a guess to review what students have learnt in the previous part.
Step 3: Part B Speak up.
(1) Lead-in: What other outdoor activities would you like to try
I had a picnic, what did I take Let’s vote! (Students use i-pads to vote pictures.)
The teacher shows her answer.
(2) Listen to the dialogue and answer two questions.(Listening tip1)
(3) Let students read the dialogue and learn how to talk about a day out.
(4) Ask students to make their own dialogues and show them.
Step 4: Part A Chinese kites
(1) Listen and find what students can hear about kites.
(2) Activity One: Talk about shapes. Listen and write the students’ names under the kites
(3) Activity Two: Talk about materials. What are the kites made of
(4) Activity Three: Know the people.(Listening tip2)
(5) Activity Four: Know the kites’ city
(6) Finish A3 and check how much they have known about kites.(Listening tip3)
Step5: Show time. Make a poster about kites and show them to others.
Students make posters in groups. Then they use i-pads to take photos to show their posters.
