Blind man and eyes in fire drama
Chapter material’s analyses
The topic for much of this chapter is our five senses, and words connected with the senses. The main passage is about a blind man and his dog trapped in a burning building, and how they are finally saved.
The listening task involves students in listening to a conversation between a hotel manager who is giving directions to a blind guest. Students have to label a plan of the hotel.
In the speaking section, students must give a short, guided talk about things one could not do if one suffered from a disability.
In the writing section, students have to produce a guided description of the furniture in a hotel room.
Learners’ analyses
Most Ss are poor in English, the reading section is hard for weak Ss to learn fluently. Considering learners and time, to learn MORE PRACTISE B and P31 E as pre-reading is more suitable.
The Listening section involves directions, and Writing section offers some useful words and materials of position and furniture, so we may combine them to help Ss describe directions freely.
Reading A and Speaking B are connected with our five senses, to lower learning level, Ss may be interested in preparing in pairs if combine them.
Teaching Purposes
To arouse Ss English learning interests and develop English abilities.
To get the knowledge connected with our five senses.
To let Ss learn the right way to help themselves and disabilities in a fire.
