There are different customs in different places. It's very important for you to know about the customs when travelling abroad. Here are some things you cannot do when visiting another country.
In Japan, don't tip(给小费) anyone. Tipping is just not part of the culture. Don't even leave the small change. People will come running after you with it if you do. Also, don't go into people's homes with your shoes on. You may run into this at certain temples, restaurants or traditional hotels, too. If you see other people taking their shoes off, do the same. Stay on the correct side on escalators. In Tokyo you stand on the left. In Osaka you stand on the right. Follow what other people are doing.
In some public places in India, kissing is not allowed. If you break the law(法律), you will be put into prison(监狱). If the couple is married, they won't be punished seriously. If the couple is unmarried, they will get into big trouble. Also, wearing shorts or skirts is not allowed in places of worship(礼拜). Dresses that show anything about the ankle(踝) is generally impolite in most places of worship.
There is one thing that you mustn't do in Germany: Do the Nazi salute(纳粹礼). Don't do that even in jest(开玩笑地). It's a crime and every year many tourists are punished for it. Also don't carry any Nazi symbols.
