Step1 Warmming-up Ask students to have a free-talk about their weekend with “what ,Where,How,when” Sample: A:What did you do last weekend B:I .... A:Where did you go ... B:I went to ... A: How did you get to ... B: I got there by... A:When did you .... B: I ... on Saturday/Sunday... A: How was your weekend B: It was... Students ask and answer in pairs to talk about their weekend. 1.Review knowledge in section A. 2.Consolidate target language. 3.Encourage Ss open up their mouth to speak English freely.
Step 2 Revision Ask students to retell the story of the family of mice.by fill in blanks. Students fill in the blanks. Students can review the past forms of verbs.
Step3 Lead-in 1. Show Ss the picture of 1a. 2. Ask Ss questions about the picture: --What did Sally and Jim do yesterday 1. Observe the picture. 2. Answer the questions. and learn the new words about the pictures. flew a kite, sang and played the guitar, studied for a test , had dinner with friends went to the library, swam in a swimming pool This activity lets students pay attention to the picture and think about the words about the picture. Students can learn some new words in this part.
Step4 Pre-listening Work on 1a Ask Ss to pay attention to the instructions and match the activities with the pictures Match the activities with Pictures. Students practice new words in a certain situation.
Step5 Pre-listening 1b Ask Ss to draw happy faces or unhappy faces under the pictures. Words about happy faces: interesting,exciting Great cool,fun Words about happy faces: Difficult,boring,terrible Think and draw faces. Ss can express feelings of like or dislike.
Step6 Pre-listening 1c Ask Ss to talk about the pictures with the faces they draw in groups. Sample: A: What did she do last weekend in picture a B: She flew a kite. A: Do you think it’s relaxing B: Sure. And it’s also fun. Talk about the pictures in groups. Practice teaching key points and reduce the difficulty while listening
Step7 While-listening 1c Play the tape for the 1st time. Play the tape for the 2nd time. Listen and complete the chart. Check and share answers. Students practice writing while listening. Ss learn a listening skill of catching key information.
