Passage 1
When were you born Why do people born in different times of the year vary from each other After looking into the birth months of people in 19 jobs, researchers have found that a baby's birth month can affect his or her choice of job later in life.
For example, if you were born in February, you may have a chance to be an artist. A March birth is good for pilots and musicians. American pop singer Lady Gaga was born in this month.
However, if your birth month was in summer, you have a lower chance of becoming a football player, doctor or dentist. If it was in August, you are more likely to become a bricklayer or American president, like Barack Obama. September babies may be good at sports or physics, while a person born in December may become a dentist in the future.
Why are there so many differences The link between birth months and people's choices of jobs is difficult to explain. But according to studies, your birth month really affects many things, including how tall you are, how well you do at school and how long you live.

enough for them. So how about bringing them some fun and joy A team from a Chinese company has designed a new kind of infusion bag for child patients. It's called an“Infusion Balloon." The infusion bag is attached to and held by one of kids' favorite toy: a balloon. It provides kids with something to smile about. Children will pay more attention to the colorful balloons in the room, so they will be less fearful of the infusion needles (针管). The invention is not only fun, but also very helpful for doctors and nurses. The balloon rises as the infusion fluid (液体)runs out from the bag slowly into a kid's body. Nurses can know when the infusion will finish just by looking at the height (高度) of the balloon. After the infusion, the nurse will take the bag away and give the balloon to the child. In her seven years as the head of the Hawaii Nature Center, Chotzen has built a wonderful place where young children can learn about the environment. The programs at the Nature Center allow the children to not only see but also touch the forest. "I think the challenge for us is to be more self-aware," says Chotzen. "That's partly what we're teaching children here at the Nature Center — to be aware of themselves and their relationships to the environment, to understand the effects that they're having so that nature is not forgotten. ”
Chotzen, 37 years old, began to work for the Nature Center by accident. She was hurt while playing soccer, and started to look for a job. Chotzen saw the Nature Center's ad for a director, but she did not know anything about the Nature Center. After a visit, she was very excited. "It was like a flower just waiting to bloom."
Chotzen has indeed helped the Nature Center also to bloom. When she began her work in 1986, about 6,000 people visited the Honolulu center. It had a budget (经费)of $50,000. Today, over 50,000 people visit it and the other center on Maui. The budget is now over $1,000,000. Her goal is to have all the young children in Hawaii visit the two centers.

Passage 6
In recent years, the Earth has been getting warmer. Average temperatures have risen. Possibly this is natural, but probably we are causing it. Modem people use a lot of electricity and drive a lot of cars. This puts carbon dioxide (二氧化碳)into the air and helps to make the planet wanner. When we hear this news, we may smile. No one likes long, cold winters, but unluckily, there are many bad points about a warmer Earth.
First, the ice at the Poles melts and becomes water. The result is that the sea-level becomes higher. Low islands will disappear. Cities on the coast will be in danger from the sea. Will Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Shanghai become like parts of Holland (荷兰)-lower than the sea Possibly we will have to build walls to keep the water out. Typhoons will become even more dangerous and frightening.
Sadly, the second point is that storms will become bigger. Super-typhoons will be born in the Pacific and do great damage to East Asia. The same will happen to the eastern United States.
As the weather changes, some places that now have rain will become dry. The farmers will not be able to grow plants. Maybe some dry places will become wet- we don't know, but we will soon find out, and the change will cause many problems. There might be wars because of it.
