现在完成时可以表示某一行为或某一状态从过去某一时间一直持续到现在。这类句子通常包含由for或since引导的时间状语，for后接段时间，since后接时间点。如：
I have lived in Beijing for 10 years.

从2000年起我就一直在这所学校。

表示某一行为或状态持续多长时间时，根据时间的不同，可以使用不同的时态。
用how long对现在完成时的时间状语提问。
注意，在现在完成时的句子中，点动词（终止性动词）一般不能与表示延续的时间状语连用。试比较：
汤姆已经来了两小时了。
(×)Tom has come for two hours.
(√)Tom has been here for two hours.
注意
终止性动词可以和延续性动词进行转换。
(1) 转化为“be+形容词/副词等”。
die → be dead
leave → be away (from)
open/close → be open/closed
stop → be over
arrive in (at)/reach/get to → be in/at
join → be a member of/ be in
start/begin → be on
(2) 转化为意思相同的延续性动词。
borrow → keep buy → have
become/come→be get to know→know
