一、whether/if引导的宾语从句
1. whether或if引导宾语从句时, 意为“是否”, 一般情况下, 两者可互换。例如:
She asked me if/whether our English teacher would come.
她问我, 我们的英语老师是否会来。
Monitor asks whether/if we will go to help the old on Sunday.
班长问, 我们周日是否会去帮助老人。
The students want to know whether/if they need to come early
tomorrow.
学生们想知道明天他们是否有必要早来。
2. 只能用whether 引导宾语从句的情况
(1)在whether or not结构中, whether不可以换为if。例如:
It remains to be seen whether or not this idea can be put into
practice.
这一想法能否付诸实践还有待观察。
(2)从句作介词的宾语时, 不用if, 只能用whether引导。例如:
They are talking about whether the Chinese team will win the game.
他们在谈论中国队是否能赢得这场比赛。
(3)当宾语从句放在句首表示强调时, 只能用whether, 而不能用if。例如:
Whether you like English, I want to know.
我想知道你是否喜欢英语。
二、疑问词引导的宾语从句
如果宾语从句是由特殊疑问句转化来的, 就要用疑问词来引导, 其意义为疑问句本身的
含义。
疑问词引导的宾语从句一定要用陈述语序。例如:
Tell your mother what you want to do.
告诉你的妈妈你想做什么。
I don't know where the hospital is.
我不知道医院在哪儿。
He asks how we can help the poor children.
他问, 我们怎样才能帮助穷孩子。
Many parents don't understand why their children like computer games so much.
许多父母不理解他们的孩子为什么如此喜欢电脑游戏。

There is always something unforgettable in my life, especially the story between my friend and me.
Here is a story. On a rainy day, I suddenly fell down and hurt myself badly. My left leg was broken. So I had to stay in hospital for about one month and I was worried about my study. Then my friend Mingming came to see me. When he knew about that, he decided to help me with my study. On hearing this, I didn't feel worried any more. From that day on, he taught me every day. I was so moved. I didn't fall behind the other students with Mingming's help. I thanked him a lot.
In my opinion, friends are very important in our life. No matter what happens, true friends will always be friends.
