You will feel happy if you get along well with your parents, brothers or sisters. However, many families tend to spend more time watching TV instead of having dinner with their loved ones these days.
According to a new study, TV is destroying the quality of family time in Britain. Researchers found millions of British families now spend more time relaxing in front of the television in the living room. They seldom sit at the dining room table talking about their daily life. A long time ago, we didn't know much about the world as we do now. Forests and swamps (沼泽) covered most places. There weren't many maps, so people did not travel far from home. Travelers had no cameras to record what they saw. They had to use words or draw pictures to tell their friends what they had seen during the trip.
Many travelers told stories about animals. However, some travelers made mistakes about what they had seen. For example, people used to think an animal called the unicorn (独角兽) was real. Travelers described the unicorn as a white horse with a long horn on its head. They said the unicorn was dangerous and hard to find, and it ran very fast. People also believed the unicorn's horn could heal sick people. Shopkeepers made powder that they said came from unicorn horns. They sold the powder for a lot of money.

Modem inventions make our life easier, but many of these inventions will use up natural recourses. Cars burn oil to get us where we want to go. This pollutes the air. Electric heat and light make our homes warm, but they also burn up coal and oil. We need factories, but factory waste pollutes our waterways.
Experts believe that changing the way we live in the future may actually improve our planet's health. We can use cleaner energy and fewer chemicals as we build the towns tomorrow. Here are some ideas that will make our planet a cleaner place to live.
Work and Transportation More and more people will work at home using computers. Today more electric trains are being built and electric cars are being developed. In the future most cars will probably use this technology (技术).
Food We'll grow fruits, grains, and vegetables close to our homes, either in our gardens or on nearby farms. The farms won't use chemicals to control pests. Instead, different kinds of insects will stop harmful bugs. That will help keep chemicals out of our food.
Shopping Online stores will be popular, but we'll still have malls. They will be small, with places to put bikes instead of cars. They will use natural sunlight to cut down on energy use. They will also recycle the objects you buy there when you finish using them.
Waste Waste water can be put into a big place, and special plants and fish will clean it. Then clean water will be sent back into rivers.
