The survey (调查) above shows the musical habits of a few of our readers. Interestingly, fourteen people out of the twenty questioned actually play a musical instrument, and only six people don’t. Out of these, ten people practise their musical instrument between zero and three hours a week and the other four between three and six hours a week.
The best instrument to play is the guitar. Eight people say it is their favourite instrument to play. Another four people like playing the piano and two like playing the violin. Two people, however, don’t like playing the violin or the piano as they think they are too difficult.
Pop concerts are always popular, but in this survey only eight people say they like going to concerts, six to pop concerts and two to jazz (爵士) concerts.
Eighteen people say they like listening to music as they find it relaxing. Only two people don’t like listening to music at all. These results seem to suggest that we are more actively musical than we think.

The story of Hua Mulan is well known in China. Mulan, a brave young girl, takes her father’s place in the army and fights for her country. Disney turned this story into a cartoon in 1998. And they made it a real action movie. It was reported that in the online script (剧本) the movie would not be mainly about Mulan saving her family, but about how a white European man saves Mulan and wins her heart. Then, lots of people made an online topic called “Make Mulan Right”.
A user named Krystal Lin thought that the story of Mulan isn’t a love story about a girl who needs to be saved, but a story about her saving her father, about family and honor (荣誉).
Others said that it would whitewash Asian culture. The word “whitewash” means Western culture takes the place of minority (少数族裔) cultures. They gave other examples, like American actress Scarlett Johansson playing the Japanese character Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell (《攻壳机动队》).

Some scientists at Ohio State University, the U.S. , have found that sad movies can make people happier. They published (发布) their study in a magazine called Communication Research.
Scientists asked 361 college students to watch a sad movie called Atonement. The movie tells a story of two lovers who were separated (分开的). They died during World War II at the end of the movie. The 361 college students answered questions from the scientists before, after and three times during the movie to find out their different feelings, including sadness.
