Section B Period (1a--1e)
Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims:
1.To be able to say the numbers “10-31” in English and find out the forming rules.
2.To be able to ask and answer about prices in English.
How much is the blue sweater/hat/dress/T-shirt/skirt… It’s…dollars(=$)
How much are the red socks/green/sweater/shoes/ trousers… They are …dollars.
Ability aims:
To be able to make conversations about shopping.
Morality aims:
To Foster students to respect the religion about the lucky or unlucky numbers in different countries.
Teaching key points:
To master vocabularies of numbers10-31 and make conversations about shopping.
Teaching difficult points:
Use the target language to make a conversation while shopping in speech.
Teaching aids: A multi-media computer, a radio recorder, pictures, blackboard, chalk.
Learning condition:
The students have learnt the numbers and sentence patterns in primary school. Activate and use them.
Teaching methods:audio-lingual , visual-lingual method, situational method, communicative approach.
Learning methods: Listening, saying ,imitating and performing
Teaching procedures:
I. Warming-up by talking about plants
Last class we learned how to buy a thing and how to talk about the price. When we talk about the price, we’ll use the numbers. And you have learned the numbers1 to 9. This class we’ll study the numbers 10 to 31.
1a Listening and repeating
Look at the numbers in the box in 1a on page 44. Listen to the recording and repeat one by one. Please pay more attention to the pronunciation of twenty and thirty.
II. Presentation
T: Please tell me how to say it in English (show the students the number cards, one by one)
III. Game
1. T: We have 9 groups. Every group has a number. When I show the number card, the group must stand up and say the number loudly. Ready
(Every time, Teacher shows the students one card. The group must stand up.)
Ss: ten/eleven/twelve.
2. T: Now, this time, I’ll show you the number card, but the next number group must stand up and say the number loudly.
eg: T: (Show the card 6)
Ss: Seven. (Group 7 stands up and say the number loudly)
3. T and the Ss play the game again, but this time, not the next group, but the number before.
eg: T: (Show the card 9)
Ss: Eight. (Group 8 stands up and read the number loudly)
IV. Work on 1b
T asks the Ss how the number is divided up. Guide them to understand that three numbers come
before the hyphen and four numbers after it Then get the students to listen to the tape and ask them to write the phone numbers in the blank
V.Listening and circling
Now we are going to hear a conversation between a mother and her daughter. They are talking about buying clothes. Listen carefully and circle the numbers you hear the mother and the daughter say. One of the numbers is given.
VI.Work on 1d
Let’s listen to the conversation again. This time please circle the things that Lisa and her mother talk about. Play the tape then check the answers.
VIII.Work on 1e
Now let’s do pair work. Read the dialogue in the speech bubble and make your conversations about the clothes in the picture in 1e. then I’ll ask some pairs to say your conversations to class.
Let the Ss ask other four students in the class these questions to complete the chart.
( the four students who are asked should not be in his/her group)
IX. Homework
1. Listen and read after the tape for thirty minutes.
2. Write down the Chinese meaning of the new words and sentences, translate them into English.
