Step 1 Leading in ( about 2〞)
T: Hi, boys and girls. Long time no see. I went to Sanya on vacation with my best friend. Do you want to go there with your best friend
S: Yes.
T: Who is your best friend Can you describe him/her
S: Sure. She is 13 years old. She is tall. She is thin. She has long hair.

Do 1a. Match words with its opposite.
Step 2 Presentation ( about 8〞)
Show some pictures of students. Describe them with some adjectives. Then compare the student with another student. Use the comparative forms of the adjectives, adverbs and their opposite to give more descriptions.
e.g. Chen Na is tall.
Chen Na is taller than ….
…. is shorter than Chen Na.
Step 3 Ask and answer ( about 8〞)
Talk about the people with the target language.
e.g. A: Is that Yao Ming
B: No, it isn’t. It’s Pan Changjiang. Pan Changjiang is shorter than Yao Ming.
e.g. A: That’s Tom, isn’t it
B: No, it isn’t. It’s Cindy. Cindy gets up earlier than Tom.
Do 1b, listen and number the twins in the picture.

Do 1c, practice the conversations in pairs. Then make conversations about the twins.

Take out you study paper, and finish task two. Make sentences with “ as…as…” to talk about similarities between you and your classmate. After that, let them show their sentences one after another.

Do 2a, find which words are used with “er” or “more”. Then write them down.
Do 2b, play the recording again, asks students to fill in the boxes. Ask some of them to come to the blackboard and write down .Then check the answers.
Step 7 Groupwork ( about 8〞)
Show two pictures. One is a picture of the twins Liu Ni and Liu Na . The other picture is of their classmates Ye Tianlong and Zhou Yulong. Let students try to find their similarities and differences.
Step 8 Homework ( about 2〞)
Write a composition and go on finishing the study paper.

1. 形容词和副词的比较级的构成

2. 形容词和副词的比较级的用法
等级 用法 例句
比较级 表示两者(人或事物)的比较。在“比较级+than”的句型中,党than前后所使用的动词相同时,通常用助动词代替后面的动词。该动词或助动词可以省略 I’m more outgoing than my sister (is).You know more about yourself than I (do).He works much harder than me.
注: 在形容词和副词的比较级钱,可以用much,little等修饰,如:much better, a little taller.
3. 表示两者在某一方面相同时,用“as + 形容词或副词原形 + as”的句型。如:
I think science is as important as math.
Tom runs as fast as Jack.
表示一方在某一方面不及另一方时,用“not as/so + 形容词或副词原形 + as”的句型.如:
It is not as//so warm today as yesterday.
He did not come as/so early as Wang Lin.
