Teaching aims Aims of knowledge 1.Students can know the usage of “show…around…” “n.+in/with…” “be/look+adj.”and the different expressions of floors in British English and American English.2.Students can write a passage to introduce their own school.
Aims of abilities 1.Students can retell Millie’s school with some key words.2.Students can express their own opinions about Hua Guo Mountain Middle School fluently.3.Students can compare Millie’s school with their own school and give an evaluation critically.
Aims of emotion 1.Students can love their school and keep an active attitude in their study and daily life.
Important&difficult points 1.By the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to write a passage about their own school with more information and more different expressions and share their opinions with others at the same time.

Step One Leading-in1. Enjoy a video about Millie’s introduction of her school.2. Give questions: What is Millie’s school in your memory And how do you feel like them Step Two The facilities in Millie’s school1. Use a mind-map to revise the places in Millie’s school in order. Let students say out the first place and the second one individually- “a playground” “a classroom building”.2. Ask students “How many classrooms are there in the building ”and go on asking “Where is Millie’s room ” immediately.“Millie’s classroom is on the ground floor.”“Millie’s classroom is on the first floor.”3. Explain the different expressions of floors in British English and American English by hyperlink. Show a building, ask students which floors the places are and encourage them to give different expressions.4. Go on finishing the facilities left in Millie’s school.“an art room, a music room, two computer rooms, a library and a school hall.”5. Present the phrase “show…around…” and ask students to make up their own sentences about their school using this phrase.Step Three The teachers in Millie’s school1.Show a picture of Mr. Wu and ask “Who is that man in a white shirt ” “What does Mr. Wu look like ” to present the structure “n.+ in…/ with…”.2.Give some pictures of Millie’s other teachers and fill in the blanks with “n.+ in…/ with…” according to the Chinese to have a practice.3. Let students talk about their own Maths teacher, own classmate and English teacher to practise this structure.Step Four Millie’s mother’s opinions1. Give an example-“Millie’s English teacher looks young.” Ask students to say out Millie’s mother’s other opinions about the places like the playground, the art room…2. Summarize “look/ be (link verbs) + adjs.”3. Fill in the blanks in a passage about Sunshine Middle School.4. Have a further thinking: “Do you like Millie’s school Why Why not ”Step Five Talking about our school1. Watch some pictures of Hua Guo Mountain School along with the music.2. Make students choose one or some of the pictures to have a discussion about their school.Step Six Being a guide to our school1. Set a background “Maybe your parents aren’t familiar with your school. They want to know more about it.”, give some tips and ask the students write a short passage about their school.2. Provide the students with enough time to finish their writing and then present their works.Step Seven Comparing our school with Millie’s school1. Compare Hua Guo Mountain Middle School with Millie’s school in groups.2. Ask the students what their opinions are about their school and encourage them express their feelings fully.Step Eight Homework1. Go on checking off your scripts carefully, correct the errors and summarize what you don’t understand.2. Show your families or friends around your school if you have a chance and know what their opinions are.
