I. Material Analysis
The topic of this unit is “Me and My Class”. After learning the contents of the whole unit, learners will not only be able to talk about their class, their classmates, their best friends, their teachers as well as their study in school but also can understand they others’ expressions on this topic in both spoken English and written English. Lesson 5 is the fifth lesson of the unit, which attracts learners’ attention to words and expressions about people description
Learner Needs
This is a Grade 8 class in Yifu middle school with students aged 13-14.Most of them are eager to improve their four English skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. After three years English learning in primary school and one and a half years’ English learning in middle school, they are able to express themselves in simple English. They are especially interested in the topic about their daily life, so arousing their learning interests is quite important for the successful teaching of this lesson.
II. Main Aims and Objectives
In this lesson, learners will be better able to develop their listening skills for gist and specific information in the context of future jobs.
1. Aims of Knowledge
Words : someone, England, knowledgeable, discuss, patient, piano
Phrases: be patient with, play the piano
2.Aims of Abilities:
In this lesson, learners will be better able to develop their listening skills for gist and specific information in the context of future jobs.
3. Emotional Aims
In this lesson, learners’ attention will be led to their daily life and develop interests in their classmates, teachers and their study, which aims to arouse their interests in school life.
