Lesson 45: Be Yourself
Teaching Plan
一、Teaching goals:
1. the students can read,understand and use the new words and phrases: stupid, smart, impossible; strong/weak points.
2. Learn about the general idea through independent study, group cooperation and exploration mode.
3. Everyone has strong points and weak points. We should look at them with a positive attitude.
二、Teaching contents:
1. Can read and understand the words: stupid, smart, impossible, weak; know the words: Sue, average, mirror; learn the phrases: strong/weak points etc.
2. Important sentences: We all have our strong points and weak points. Don’t be too hard on yourself for making mistakes. The important thing is to learn from your mistakes.

七、Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead in.
Greeting.
T: Today is a nice day.There is a beautiful song that I like very much. Its name is .Would you like to listen OK, let’s listen to a piece of it. (Use PPT to play.)
[Planning purpose] Listen to the English song, so that students can quickly enter the new lesson.
Step2. Pre-reading.
1. Use interesting PPT to show some new words and phrases to the students. Ask the students to learn the new words and phrases: stupid, smart, impossible, strong/weak points.
Make sure the students can read it correctly.
2. Talk about their own strong points and weak points with them.
[Planning purpose] improve students' interests in learning and lay the foundation for the following text analysis.
Step 3. Listening.
Ask the students to listen the text and answer the questions:
1. How many people are there in the two letters (Three. )
2. Who are they (A sad girl, Lisa and Sue. )
3. What is Lesson 45 about __C__
A. a sad girl's problems. B. no body is perfect .
C. a girl's problems and Sue' suggestions.
[Planning purpose] listen the text and make sure the students can get the general idea and improve the listening skill.
Step 4. Reading.
(1).Careful reading 1
Read the first letter, and then find the girl's problems:
“She looks very common. She gets average grades. She makes stupid mistakes. She feels bad about herself.”
(2).Careful reading 2.
Read the second letter, and then find Sue's suggestions:
“Think about your strong points.
Make a list and read it every morning.
Don't be too hard on yourself for making mistakes. Learn from your mistakes.
Look in the mirror and smile at yourself every day.”
[Planning purpose] Read the text carefully and make sure the students can get the general idea , improve the reading skill and build confidence .
Step 5. Writing .
Ask the students to write a letter.
Our friend LiMing has some problems, give suggestions to him. Write a letter to him.
Discuss in groups and then show the letter to the class.
“Dear LiMing,
I’m sorry to hear that.But nobody is perfect. We all have our strong points and weak points... ”
[Planning purpose] Write a letter to help another person, try to give others suggestions. Tell them to be themselves, and help them build their confidence, and improve the writing skill.
Step 6.Practice.
Play a game and do some exercises.
[Planning purpose] do some exercises and practise the new words and phrases.
Step 7. Summary.
Sum up the new words, phrases, and sentences that we learned.
Step 8. Sing a song:.
“I can fly
I'm proud that I can fly
To give the best of mine
Till the end of the time
Believe me I can fly
I'm proud that I can fly
To give the best of mine
...”
[Planning purpose] Tell the students “ Just be yourself, you are the best!” Inspire students to build confidence.
