Difficulties Students may have trouble in telling what they can do in English and lose the chance to show what they can do in public.

Step 1 Pre-learning
1 Draw a picture on the blackboard and ask the students: Do you know her Can you draw cartoons What can you do
2 Tell the Ss about the rules of this class: Show their appreciate to the classmates when they tell what they can do, like saying: Wonderful!Marvellous! Super! Etc..
Step2 Lead-in
1 Ask Ss: Do you like party What party do you know Show them some pictures of different party.
2 Lead in let’s talk: Miss White’s class will have a party. Let’s see.
3 Play the video twice: first time, just listen; second time, read after it.
Step 3 Teaching new words
1 Teach the new words’ meanings by showing videos and pictures;
2 Teach the new word’s sounds by reading after the tape;
Step 4 Asking
1 Ask the students to write down what they can do in a table, give them an example first;
2 Brainstorm with the Ss together about more words used to tell “can do” that they have learnt before;
3 Interview: Ss will ask three of their classmates about what they can do and take notes;
4 Ss will show the result of their interview to their classmates.
Step 5
1 Show the pattern of the conversation and fill in the blanks with the Ss together first;
2 Ss will finish the conversation in group and practice their own conversation;
3 Invite the Ss to do a role-play according to their conversation.
Step 6 Conclusion
1 Summarize what we have learnt today;
2 Homework: Write down five things that you can do; Ask your father and mother what they can do.
