The black ruler is short.
The orange ruler is long.
The orange ruler is longer than the black one.
The black ruler is shorter than the orange one.
The red apple is big.
The green apple is small.
The red apple is bigger than the green one.
The green apple is smaller than the red one.
The apple is heavy.
The pear is light.
The apple is heavier than the pear.
The pear is lighter than the apple.
在对两者进行比较时，形容词要用比较级的形式，形容词比较级之后要用than引出比较的对象。
A + be + 形容词比较级 + than + B.
“A比B……”
比较级的句子结构：
A + be + adj...er + than + B.
This tree is taller than that one.

than是比较级的标志词
形容词比较级的构成—规则变化：
单音节和部分双音节词 一般在词尾加-er tall→taller
long→longer
以不发音字母e结尾的词，在词尾加-r fine→finer
late→later
重读闭音节词且词尾只有一个辅音字母，双写辅音字母再加-er big→bigger
thin→thinner
以“辅音字母 + y”结尾的双音节词，先把“y”改为“i”再加-er easy→easier
friendly→
friendlier
比较级常用句型：
1. 表示两者之间的选择, 可使用
如：Which is + 比较级, A or B
Which is longer, this one or that one
2. …比较级+and+比较级…“越来越…”
Shenzhen is getting busier and busier.
3. as+形容词原形+as… “和…一样…”
否定形式：not as/so…as…“和… 不一样”
Tom is as tall as Mike.
Tom is not as tall as Mike.
注意：
I’m a little / a bit taller than Tom.
比较级前可加a little / a bit 一点儿,
a lot/much得多 ，even / still甚至/更加
等来修饰。
我比Tom高一点。
He is getting much fatter these days.
他这两天变得更胖了。
