Ⅱ. Analysis of the lesson:
This lesson is the fourth lesson of Unit 1. It is a kind of consolidation and practice. In Lesson1,Lesson 2 and Lesson 3 ,the students have learned: She’s young. She’s very kind. He was strong. They were active in class. The main purpose of lesson 4 is to help students talk about what are their favourite teachers like more fluently and develop their comprehensive language-using ability..
Ⅲ. Analysis of the learners:
Students of Grade Five are interested in learning English. They are active in class and eager to express their opinions. From lesson 1 to lesson 3, they have learned how to talk about the appearance and personality characteristics of their teachers. It’s not difficult for them to do the activities about describing the teachers in this class. But it is really a challenge for them to describe the teachers of previous appearance and personality characteristics by using the past tense, and compared with their appearance and personality characteristics now.
Ⅳ. Teaching goals:
1. Knowledge goal:
1) All the students can use the following sentences to talk about teachers’ appearance and personality characteristics fluently: She’s strict. She’s very kind. He was strong. They were active in class.
2) All the students can control the pronunciation of x, y and z.
2. Ability goal:
1) All the students can talk about the teachers’ appearance and personality characteristics fluently.
2)Most of the students can read aloud simple words according to spelling rules.
3)Most of the students can describe the teachers of previous appearance and personality characteristics by using the past tense, and compared with their appearance and personality characteristics now.
3. Emotion goal: Cultivate students’ qualities of respecting teachers.

1. Key point:Use the words and sentences to describe teachers’ appearance and personality characteristics.
2. Difficult points: describe the teachers of previous appearance and personality characteristics by using the past tense, and compared with their appearance and personality characteristics now.

Step 2 Practice
1. Listen and repeat.
① Read the words and find out the spelling rules.
② Word Game.
【Purpose】 Make students find out the simple spelling rules so that they can read and write the words more effectively with the learning strategies.
2. Test your memory.
Review the text we’ve learned
① Compare Miss Zhang and Mr Wang’s appearances before and now.
② What happened on Teachers’ Day
③ Guessing game.
3. Work in pairs.
Describe Ss’ favourite teacher by their drawings.
