设计说明
本课时的教学从猜谜游戏到新知识呈现，会使学生注意力相对集中，能有效激发学生的学习兴趣，发挥学生学习英语的主动性。利用听、说、读、写吸引学生的注意力；利用游戏，能让学生对所学的知识印象更深刻。
教学目标
1. 知识目标：
(1)掌握新单词：what，is，this，in，English，map，cup，ruler，pen，orange，jacket，key，quilt，it，a，an，that;短语：in English。
(2)学习字母Ii-Rr和不定冠词a/an的初步用法。
(3)掌握重点句型：—What’s this/that in English
—It’s a/an...。
2. 能力目标：
(1)学会运用本课时的重点句型辨认物品。
(2)学会怎样拼写单词，能知道一些常见的英语字母或字母组合的意思。
3. 情感目标：
在认识事物的学习活动中培养学生的想象力和创造力；激发学生学习英语的兴趣，发挥学生学习英语的主动性。
重点难点
1. 重点：
(1)本课生词；重点句型What’s this/that in English 及答语。
(2)掌握Ii—Rr 10个字母的正确书写及读音
2. 难点：
(1)a/an的用法。
(2)Ii-Rr的写法与读音。

教师准备：单词图片、字母卡片、录音机。
教学过程
Step 1　Warming up
1. Greetings.
2. A guessing game.
The teacher shows part of a letter and asks，“What’s this ” Let the students answer the question like this“I think it’s A/B. ” Then show the whole of the letter to let the students check whether they’re right or wrong.
Step 2　Presentation
1. Get a cup，a quilt，a map，a jacket，a key，a ruler，a pen and an orange. Hold the “key” up and say，“What’s this in English It’s a key. ”
(Pay attention to “this” and “it”. )
2. Read the new words and ask the students to repeat them.
T：Please translate the following words and phrase.

Then read them in groups.
3. Explain the differences between “a” and “an”.
Step 3　Listening
1. Listen to the tape and then repeat the conversation in 1b.
2. Ask the students to practice the conversation in the picture.
3. Make a conversation like 1b. Please use “this” and “that”.
For example：
A：What’s this in English
B：It’s a cup.
A：What’s that in English
B：It’s a map.
4. Discussion.
(1)What’s this in English 这个用英语怎么说？
①this用来指离说话者较近的人或物。其对应词为 that。
那个用英语怎么说？(翻译句子)
What’s that in English？
②in English意为“用英语”，介词in表示“用某种语言；用某种方式”。
用汉语(汉译英)in Chinese
(2)It’s an orange. 它是一个橙子。
orange是读音以元音音素开头的单词，所以其前用不定冠词an表示“一个”。
汉译英：
一个苹果an apple　　　一个鸡蛋an egg
Step 4　Letter challenge
1. The teacher shows the letters very quickly and holds a competition between boys and girls. Ask them to read the letters they see.
2. First let the students say the letters Ii-Rr by themselves. Then listen and repeat the ten letters in 2a.
3. Ask two students to write the big letters and small letters (Ii-Rr) on the blackboard. And the other students just watch and correct.
4. Listen and number the letters they hear in 2b.

5. Look and copy the letters in 2c. (注意大小写、字母的占格及笔顺)
6. Write the small letters for the big letters or write the big letters for the small letters in 2d.

Step 5　Practice
Show “P，NBA，kg” and ask the students to read them first，and then guess what they stand for. If they have difficulties，the teacher can give them some help.
