Step I. Warming-up
1. Greetings.
2. Sing a song：Knock knock, trick or treat
3. Guessing game : What festival is it
4. Free talk: What’s your favourite festival Why
My favourite festival is Halloween. Because it’s interesting.
Step II. Presentation
1. Introduce the title of the story and learn the word: surprise.
2. Learn the story from picture 1 to picture 5.
listen and answer the three questions:
When does the story happen
What do the children get
Where do the children go to
Look and listen again and learn the story.
Role Play.
Invite three groups to play the roles.
3. Learn the story from picture 6 to picture 9.
Listen and answer :What’s strange
listen again and learn the words: strange, light, upstairs, ladder.
Practice to read.
4. Learn the story from picture 10 to picture 18.
Listen and Choose:
1. How do the children help Mr. Pearson
A. Call their parents. B. Call the police.
C. Call their teacher. D. They don’t know how to do.
2. Why is Mr. Pearson on upstairs at night
A. He is a thief(小偷).
B. He wants to play a game on Halloween.
C. He leaves his key in the house.
Listen again and repeat.
Learn the words: key, left…in…, detective
Step III. Practice
1. Fill in the numbers on Page 63.
2. Role play: 1. Play 2 or 3 pictures.
2.Play 1 or 2 parts.
3.Play the whole story.
3. Talk about what can you do if you got a surprise.
