Unit 5 Let’s celebrate!
Task
Ⅰ Teaching material analysis
The topic of Unit 5 is about festivals. Students have mastered a lot of information on different festivals before this period. During this period, students’ task is to write a passage of their favourite festival.
Before writing, students should learn to make a writing plan to get ready for the passage.
Ⅱ Analysis of the students
Students have contacted festivals at primary school. They have learnt a lot about festivals. They have mastered much information about festivals. But most of them don’t know how to organize their information about festivals into a short passage. Also most of them don’t know they should make a writing plan before writing.

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to
1. make a writing plan before writing;
2. write a passage about their favourite festivals.

Step 1 Lead-in

2. Watch a video about Halloween. Guide students to have a revision of Halloween and present part of new words.
【设计意图】通过师生对话做示范,然后小组对话练习导入本课话题为本节课热身。通过有趣的视频,引入并复习Halloween 的相关知识,激发学生的兴趣,调动学生的积极性,温故知新,为接下来讨论春节的相关知识做铺垫。
Step 2 Presentation
1. T: Different people like different festivals. What’s Millie’s favourite festival
2. Read Millie’s writing plan then ask and answer in pairs.

3. Complete Millie’s article according to Millie’s writing plan.
4. Get the main idea of each paragraph.
5. Figure out the article structure.

【设计意图】根据写作计划,让学生以问答的形式初步了解春节的相关信息。要求学生完成文章的填写并进一步了解和分析文章的段落大意以及文章的结构。
Step3 Writing
1. Guide students to follow writing steps.
(1) Choose a topic.
(2) Get more details to make a writing plan.
Present four pictures of festivals. Discuss in groups and give a report about the festival.
(3) Writing tip: Remember to use simple present tense in the article.

本课时为7A Unit5写作板块的教学。这一课时仍然围绕着本单元的话题festival展开。学生在对话题熟悉的基础上,教师通过视频复习阅读课时中Halloween导入本节课,将写作框架建构在让学生对Halloween了解的基础上。学生在学习课本中的Spring festival时得心应手。我认为本节课的关键是让学生学会写作的策略,即在写作前做Writing Plan 。在此基础上,学生将所学关于节日的词块运用到写作中去,让自己的书面表达更流畅。值得注意的是要对学生写作中出现的细节错误纠正到位并给予学生更多地鼓励。
