Reading (I)
I. Teaching aims and learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. read the passage fluently;
2. understand new words and expressions about food and lifestyle;
3. describe Kitty’s and Daniel’s lifestyles;
4. try to give some advice about how to keep fit.
II. Teaching contents
1. New words and expressions: fit, meal, pear, sugar, tooth, change, plan, more, pool, cola, swimming pool, love/like dancing, every day/week, need to do, keep fit, have milk and bread for breakfast, between meals, too much, be bad for, play computer games, plan to do, go swimming
2. New structures: I need to keep fit.
I always have milk and bread for breakfast.
There is a swimming pool near my home.
I plan to go swimming every week.
III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty
1. Introduce Kitty’s and Daniel’s lifestyles;
2. Introduce students’ own lifestyles with the passage as a model.
IV. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
Show a short passage about my hobby. Present some new words .Then show some pictures and ask the students to match them.

Step 2 Presentation (I)
1. Read the new words and expressions.
2. Show Kitty’s and Daniel’s pictures and other pictures about food ,ask the students to guess their hobbies,looks,what they may eat and exercise.

Step 3 Presentation (II)
T: Today we’ll learn about Kitty’s and Daniel’s lifestyles. Let’s see what they eat and how they live.

2. Fast reading.
