Welcome to the unit
Step 1:Lead-in
1.Create true situation to lead in the topic of buying presents and shopping.
T: What’s the date today
S: It’s December 11.
T: Yes. Do you know when is Christmas And how do people celebrate Christmas
S: It’s on December 25. People celebrate it by sending presents to each other.
T: I have a friend, if she likes reading interesting stories , what should I buy for her Where can I buy Do you have any ideas
T : If he likes playing football ,what should I buy for him where can I buy it
T : If she likes listening to music , what should I buy where can I buy
T : If she likes eating snacks ,what should I buy for her where can I buy
S:(answer)
2.Let students learn names of different shops through a game. Students should read after me when learning the names of shops. I will also talk with students about what can we buy there.
T: we can buy different things in different shops. Do you know what shops they are Let’s do a game .
T: How many shops can you see What’s this shop What can we buy here
3. Let students complete part A on Page81 and then check the answers together.
T: Now work in pairs and talk about what Christmas present to buy for your friends.
(Ask two groups to act out their dialogue)
Step 2: presentation
1.Present the dialogue about buying gifts.
T: Do you remember the boy called Daniel Yes ,the boy with a pair of glasses . He wants to buy a Christmas present for Simon and he is asking Millie for help. Listen to the dialogue and tell me what they decide to buy and where they can buy stamps for Simon.
T: What do they decide to buy
S: Some stamps.
T:Where can they buy
(Students raise their hands to answer the question.)
2.Read the dialogue together first and then play the roles of Millie and Daniel.
3.Let students talk about the topic of buying gifts for free.
T: I also want to buy a wallet for my sister. Can you tell me where I can buy it Now work in pairs and talk about what present you will buy for your friend . You can make your own conversation with useful expressions.
4.Ask two groups of students to act out their dialogue.

Step 1: Presentation
1. show the pictures of Hobo and Eddie.
T:Hobo is going shopping and he asks Eddie to go with him. Do you think Eddie will do that
(Students answer)
2. Play the tape and ask students two questions.
(1) Does Eddie want to go shopping with Hobo
No , he doesn’t.
(2) Why does Hobo ask Eddie to go with him
Because he wants Eddie to carry all the bags.
Step 2: Exercises
1. Let students play the roles to read the dialogue on the basis of understanding the dialogue.
2. Ask two groups to act it out.
3. Complete the passage with the words and phrases.
4. Fill in the blanks with correct shop names .
5. Write the words according to the sentence meaning .
6 . Fill in the blanks with proper forms of the given word .
