【教材内容分析】
本部分是听说课,围绕英语学习展开。在Section A谈论英语学习的基础上,丰富与学习的话题词汇,将听说能力综合,以听促说。在话题上,从英语的学习困难及解决方案,拓展到优秀学习者的学习习惯。1a-1b让学生思考自己英语学习有哪些困难,并写下来。1a列举的学习困难也为后面1c-1d的听力谈论的相关话题进行了预热。1e需要学生结合所听内容,用对话形式复现听力信息。
【学情分析】
学生在学习了Section A谈论英语学习方法的基础上, 对用英语表达学习困难及解决方案等有了一定的基础,同时也保持着较高的兴趣,学习内容“如何给学习困难者提出建议”贴近学习生活,难度不大,学生会有表达的欲望,有一定的积极性。所以教师可以鼓励学生直面学习困难,不断改进自己的学习方法、提高学习效率,并引导学生逐步养成或者巩固原有的良好的学习习惯。
【学习目标】
1.在语言上,巩固Section A所学语言结构,丰富与学习相关的话题词汇。
2.训练听说能力,以听促说。
3.关注同伴的学习方式,借鉴并用于自身;不断改进自己的学习方法、提高学习效率。
【学习重点】
重点词汇:pronounce,increase,speed,partner.
目标语言:
1. I’m having trouble learning English. /I can’t get the pronunciation right. /Sometimes I just don’t understand what people are saying.
2. You can always write the new words in your notebook and review them from time to time. /You can even study on the subway on the way to school.
【学习难点】
学习有效的英语学习方法
【教学策略选择与设计】任务型教学法、情景交际法、自主学习法与合作学习相结合。

Step1: Lead-in
Introduce the topic by asking students questions:
How long have you learnt English

【课堂活动】
Step 2: Presentation
1. Get students to read the sentences in 1a, and check the statements that are true for them, and present the new words while doing it: pronounce, increase, speed, partner.
2. Ask students to finish 1b: write out as many other things that are difficult for them as possible.
3. The teacher gives proper advice, and then let students give advice by themselves.
(环节说明:教师所给建议尽量使用随后听力活动录音文稿中的教师话语,这样可以让学生预先对听力中的部分语言有所了解,降低听力难度。)

Step 3: Listening to 1c & 1d
Before listening
1. Ask students to read the four sentences in 1c and 1d.
2. Students try to guess the proper words, then share the answers with the partners, and the teacher collects the different answers.
(环节说明:通过浏览信息,为获取信息铺垫、获取准确的听力信息作好准备,引起学生兴趣,形成听力期待,降低听力难度;教师巡视、搜集学生在预估中所填出的不同词汇,引导学生展开交流,可以滚动复习旧词、接触新词,以达到复习、扩充词汇之目的。)
While listening
1. Ask students to listen for the first time and complete the learning challenges Paul talks about. Listen and check the answers.
Answers: (1) pronunciation (2) forget (3) understand (4) writing
2. Ask students to listen for the second time and complete the solutions. Check the answers.
Answers: (1) Listening (2) write the new words (3) joining an English club (4) pen pal
3. Get students to listen again and repeat for the pronunciation and intonation, looking at the tapescripts.
(环节说明:通过听的方式输入功能句型,达到知识目标,先听后读,培养学习英语的良好习惯,同时学习正确的语音语调,争取能说一口标准流利的英语。)
After Listening
Step 4: Work on 1e
1. Ask students to make conversations in pairs. Ask several pairs to act them out.
2. Let students write out their difficulties in learning English by themselves and share them in groups of six.
3. The others in the whole group help the one who has difficulties, giving him/her advice.
4. Ask students to write a report, talking about the difficulties, the advice and how to improve English.
(环节说明:为学生提供口语交流平台,引导他们谈论学习中的困难及解决的办法,交流学习英语的经验和方法,提高学习英语的信心。)
【课堂小结】
先自主学习,再以四人小组方式展开讨论:
1.本课学习了哪些内容?
2.学习有困难怎样表述?怎样给学习有困难的同学支招?
3.还有什么疑问?组内讨论,解决不了的反馈给老师一起解决。

Write an e-mail to your pen pal, tell him the difficulties in learning English and ask him for help.
