Whether you are teaching an elementary Spanish class or passing on Spanish to your children, it is important to teach children good manners. And there are culturally appropriate(恰当的)behaviors that children need to know.
These five behaviors are considered good manners throughout Latin America. Of course, these are good manners in the U.S. too. But they are not given as much attention because the opposite behavior is not considered particularly rude. In Spanish-speaking countries, however, the opposite behavior is negative(负面的)and can change the impression people have of children(and adults).
All of these good manners can be practiced by children with different language levels.
Good manners to teach kids learning Spanish.
1.When you hand something to someone, put it directly into her hand. Do not toss things at people.
2. Keep your feet on the floor. Do not put your feet on chairs.
3.When you move away from a group of people or leave a room, say Con permiso. Do not just walk away.
4. If someone sneezes, say Salud, which means "take care" in English.
5.When you arrive, greet everyone. When you leave, say goodbye to everyone.
There are lots of resources(资源)for teaching children good manners in Spanish. Many polite behaviors also involve language. Here you will find resources for teaching polite expressions, including books and a song. There are also You Tube videos that teach polite behaviors.
In my experience, kids are interested in what is considered polite behaviors in different cultures, and they want to learn to act appropriately. We work hard to teach them to use Spanish. It is important that they also know how to interact(互动,相互交流)so that others are comfortable and they can make the most of the language they have learned.

True enough, the boy attacked his plate faster than a cat in the wild. Without manners, we’re no more than animals. Actually, that’s not true, I've been watching and feeding a group of wild cats, and they show unusual politeness toward each other. Even when food is scarce, they take turns, leaving at least a small part for the next in line.
My mother educated her three children to have good manners all the time. We were made to feel very uncomfortable as if we were sitting on pins and needles until we got used to saying please, thank you, pardon me, and I'm sorry. And I have to say, while it was a painful learning experience, it was one of the most valuable.
I can’t tell you how often I sat with my friends, eating at their dinner tables, and their parents thought highly of my good manners. While it was a little uneasy. I knew even then that my mother’s teachings were paying off.
Many years later, when I was attending seminars across the country, my manners were quite useful.
While I regret that I haven't been a perfect example, I’m still working on it. I suppose, in this regard, my mother lives on through me, I didn’t have her beautiful singing voice or her green eyes, but she did make sure I received one of her finest characteristics.

What are the basic ingredients(要素)of good manners A strong sense of fairness is one of them.
A friend once told me an experience that he had. When he was driving along a one-lane(单行小路), unpaved(未铺路的)mountain road, the car ahead of his produced clouds of choking dust(呛人的尘土), and it was a long way to the nearest paved main road. Suddenly, the car ahead stopped at a wider place on the road.
My friend thought there must be something wrong with the car ahead. He stopped and asked if anything was wrong. “No,” said the other driver. “But you’ve endured my dust so far. I’ll endure yours the rest of the way.”
Another ingredient is empathy(同情心). It makes a person see into the mind or heart of someone else. Recently I happened to read such a story in a book.
A man was having dinner alone, and he was trying to open a bottle. But he failed. Then he asked a waiter for help. The waiter took the bottle, turned his back and opened it without difficulty. Then the waiter closed it again and turned back. He pretended(假装)to make a great effort to open the bottle without success. Finally he took it into the kitchen and returned very soon. He told the man that he managed to open it, but only with a tool.
Yet another ingredient is the ability to treat people alike(一视同仁). No matter who he is and what he does, everyone is worth respecting.
