People around the world know LEGOs very well. These years, the LEGO Group are trying using recycled plastic(可回收塑料) to make LEGO bricks(积木). They aren’t ready yet, but the company says it’s making big progress.
In fact, people who often play LEGOs may know that the first LEGO brick came out in 1949. Since(自从) about 1960, LEGO bricks have been made from a kind of plastic called ABS. Sadly, it can’t really be recycled, and it takes a long time to break down.
But since 2015, LEGO has been trying to make their products(产品) more environment-friendly. Three years ago, the company began making some LEGO parts with a kind of plastic made from sugar cane(甘蔗). Recently, LEGO decided to use paper bags only. And the company has also started to make bricks by using recycled plastic.
Over the past three years, the company has tested over 250 different ways of creating LEGO bricks from recycled plastic. Now, the company has found a way to make a good 2×4 brick from PET plastic, which is softer(柔软) than ABS plastic and can be found in things like bottles and clothing. The only problem is that the company should think about how to make PET plastic stronger and give it better clutch power(离合力) like ABS.
The company truly believes that they can find more sustainable materials(可持续材料) to make all of their main products by the year 2030. Making bricks from used PET instead of(而不是) new ABS can not only cut plastic waste, but also cut pollution by about 70%.
21.The first paragraph mainly tells us ________.
A.how popular LEGO bricks are in the world B.a new kind of LEGO bricks is on the way C.how to make LEGO bricks by ourselves
22.When did LEGO begin using ABS plastic

A.PET plastic is much softer and has better clutch power.
B.ABS plastic is hard to break down although it can be easily found in bottles.
C.PET plastic is a sustainable material but it still needs to be improved.
24.What can we infer from the passage
A.We can buy LEGOs made from PET plastic as Christmas gifts this year.
B.LEGO is the first company to make bricks out of recycled plastic.
C.LEGO will keep looking for materials which are similar to PET plastic.
25.What is the best title of the passage
A.Save the environment in a LEGO way! B.Join us to be an amazing LEGO talent! C.Meet the freshest and coolest LEGO bricks!
Living places The home of the elephant is in the deep forest. It is the largest of all land animals, and is found both in Asia and Africa. One of the main places in Asia where the elephant lives is the island of Ceylon. The huge forests on the island become the home of thousands of elephants. The trees grow thick and tall. They make many parts almost dark, while bright sunlight is above and around them.
Living habits The elephant likes the deep part and the coolest places of the forest. There he will stand swinging his ears, to drive away the flies; or he will pull down a branch (树枝) from a tree to fan himself. He likes bathing, and to be near a lake or running water. There he takes in the water with his trunk, and spreads it all over his body.
Food The elephant enjoys the fruits in the forest, and also the leaves of the trees. There is plenty of food for him in the forests, though he is not always happy with what he finds there.
Way of movement When a group of elephants moves about in the forest, the oldest goes first. The young elephants and their mothers are in the middle, where they are safest. Then all move along with a great noise, the branches of the trees bending and breaking before them. Though the elephant is usually harmless, no one dares to attack (袭击) a group of them moving through the forest.
How people treat them In Asia the elephant is trained to work. At one time the African elephant also was trained. Soldiers in ancient times often went to fight on the backs of African elephants. But now the elephant that lives in Africa is illegally (非法地) hunted mainly for its valuable ivory. In order to protect them, governments around the world have developed laws to stop this.

April 22nd is World Earth Day—a day to remind people to protect the earth. So on that day, our family held an activity “bottle of trash challenge”. That means the trash needs to be put in a 600ml bottle. We decided to challenge ourselves and produce as little trash as possible.
My father worked online all day, so he didn’t produce any paper waste except paper napkins. He made the least trash in our family.
My mother cooked and produced plenty of kitchen waste, such as vegetable leaves, eggshells and food bags. What’s worse, we couldn’t eat up all the food of the dinner that day. So leftovers couldn’t be avoided. It was not easy for mom to deal with all the trash, but she found a way to put it all into the bottle. How amazing!
My sister, a 16-year-old student, was busy preparing for her exams. She had to use paper to work out math or physics problems. She used only one side of the paper in the past. But that day, she tried to use both sides of the paper because she realized we were challenging ourselves. She did a good job!
I was different from my sister. I love snacks and drinks. So my trash was almost from them. I was highly alert(警觉的) that I must produce less waste. I hardly ever had snacks or drinks. It was too difficult, but I did it!
I’ve learnt a lot from this activity. I realize that everyone can produce less trash. We should start with small actions to protect the earth!
31.What activity did the writer’s family hold on April 22nd
A.A challenge. B.A trip. C.A picnic. D.A party.
32.Who made the least trash in the family
A.The writer. B.The writer’s father. C.The writer’s mother. D.The writer’s sister.

A.Food bags that are used to put the vegetable leaves.
B.Food that hasn’t been eaten up at the end of a meal.
C.Waste that is produced in the kitchen.
D.Dishes that are cooked by mother.
34.What was the writer’s sister busy doing
A.Watching TV. B.Playing computer games.
C.Preparing for her exams. D.Playing the piano.
35.Why does the writer write the passage
A.Because he hopes that we can have less snacks and drinks.
B.Because he hopes that we can use both sides of the paper.
C.Because he hopes that we can eat up all the food of the dinner.
D.Because he hopes that we can protect the earth by starting with small actions.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics was a great success. China has kept the promise to hold a green Olympics. Many green actions made it possible, like providing environmentally friendly smart beds, using new energy(能源) cars, supporting sporting places with 100% clean energy and reusing rain and snow water.
Take making ice as an example. China didn’t use R507, a common material to make ice, because it isn’t friendly enough to the environment. Through 18 months’ hard work, China independently developed the CO direct cooling technology.
A net of tubes runs under the ice. High-pressure liquid(液态) CO goes through them to create heat(热) exchange. The CO evaporates(蒸发) under the ice surface. The evaporation takes in heat and turns water on the surface into ice. And the CO goes into another circle. This technology helps to make ice better and faster. And above all, it is much greener because there’s no new CO produced. Among all the 15 ice sporting places in the Winter Olympics, 7 used the CO direct cooling technology to make ice. As a result, much less pollution was caused.
Beijing did so much more to save energy. Beijing built the new sporting places with green materials. As for the old ones, Beijing used new glass walls to take the place of traditional walls to let more natural light in. 70% of the waste heat was also reused to keep warm and dry. And a large number of new energy cars were used at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is the first to truly achieve carbon neutrality(碳中和), and it has set new standards in green technologies. Some newspapers say China has set an example for the world in environmental protection and green development.
36.How long did it take China to develop the CO direct cooling technology
A.18 months. B.100 weeks. C.15 days. D.7 years.
37.The writer writes Para. 3 to show ________.
A.why the CO goes into another circle
B.how the new ice-making technology helped
C.how sporting places used the new technology
D.why the liquid CO runs through the net of tubes
38.According to the passage, we can infer(推断) that ________.
A.all the buildings will be built with glass walls in the near future
B.the CO direct cooling technology may be widely used in the world
C.the high-pressure liquid CO will totally take the place of R507 soon
D.no new standards in green technologies may be set after the Olympics
39.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage
A.A New Green Ice-making Technology
B.Green Technologies Used in Sports
