Before-Listening
There are many rules in the school.
We can't arrive late for school. And we must be on time. We can't run in the hallways or listen to music in class. We can't fight in class, either. We can't eat in class because we have to eat in the dining hall.

There are many rules in Dave’s family.
He can’t go out on school nights, and he can’t see his friends on school days, either. He has to do his homework after school. Before dinner, he must practice the guitar. And after dinner, he must do the dishes, too. He can’t watch TV in the evening because he has to help his mom make breakfast every morning. And he also has to clean his room every Saturday.
Dave really has a lot of rules!

We have to follow the rules. Because no rules, no games, parents make rules to help us be better.
We don’t have to follow all the rules. Because we have too many strict rules, and I’m not happy.

2. Talk about how you feel about the rules.
1. Write down one or two family rules in your home.
In my home, I can’t play with my mobile phone after school, because I have to finish my homework first.
2. Talk about how you feel about the rules.
The rule is good for me. Because as a student, study is more important. And if I finish my homework, I will have some time to use the mobile phone.
