【教学目标】

2) 学会询问发明时间及用途的基本句型:

运用一般过去时态的被动语态来讨论发明的发明时间及用途。

Step 1 Revision & Lead in
1.Lead in
T:Good morning/afternoon, boys and girls. This week we will begin a new unit about inventions. You can see inventions all around us, from TV to car, from food to clothing. We should say nobody can live without them. Don't you think so Can you imagine what will happen without inventions ?
Ss: That's impossible.?
T:Yes, we live in a world of inventions. These inventions make our life easier and more comfortable. In this unit, we will learn some inventions and their history. First, let's get to know some new words.?
2. Free talk
1)What are the four great inventions in ancient China
Ancient inventions
2) let’s guess who and when they were invented.
3)Some modern inventions are important. Look and see.
4)use pictures and learn some new words.

Step 2 Activity(1a)?
1.Card game
T:Close your books. Here are some cards. On each card there is a word with English spelling. When I hold up a card, you must tell me what it means in Chinese, how to read it.?
2.Show the pictures of TV and car to express:?
TV,car-I think the TV was invented before the car.?
I think the TV was invented after the car.?
Notice: be-was.?
3.Make students understand the meaning of questions in 1a. Then finish it.?
Step 3 Listening (1b)?
Listen to the recording.
The first time, students listen, students listen and finish 1b.
The second time: Listen again and answer the questions.
The third time, Fill the blanks
check each answer in group of four.?
Step 4 Group work (1c)?
1.Show some date's pictures and ask students to read them fluently.?
2.Divide the whole class into two teams-boys and girls to read the conversation in 1c.
3.Finish 1c.?
4.Watch and answer, then role-play.
Step 5 Listening (2a)?
1.Learn new words and phrases: shoes with special heels, scoop, electricity.?
2.Play the tape. The first time, students only listen. The second time, students number 1-3 in the order you hear them. The third time, check the answers in group of four.?
Step 6 Listening(2b)?
1.Tell the differences between present tense, past tense and passive voice of past tense.
2.Make students understand the meaning of questions in 2b.Play the tape, students listen and answer the questions. Check the answers in group of four.?
Step 7 Pair work(2c)?
Make sure students can understand the meaning of questions in 2c. Read the conversation in pairs. Then ask some pairs to present to the class like this.

Step 8 Role-play(2d)?
1.Watch the video, and talk about the gist of 2d.?
2.Read the conversation follow the recording , try to answer the questions.
3. Read again and underline the sentences of passive voice of past tense. Then role-play 2d in pairs.?

be used for doing sth.表示“被用来 做某事”。 相当于be used to do sth.
e.g. This computer is used to control all the machines.
这台电脑是用来控制所有机器的。

3. Think about how often it’s used in our daily lives.
think about 表示“考虑,想起”
e.g. He is thinking about travelling in the summer holidays.
他正在考虑暑假旅游的事。
She was thinking about her childhood days.
她正回想她的童年时期。

think of 指“考虑,记忆,记起”
如:You think of everything! 你全都提到了。
I can’t think of his name at the moment. 我一时想不起他的名字。
think sth. over指“仔细想,审慎思考,作进一步考虑”
如:Please think over what I said.请仔细考虑我说的话。
I want to think it over. 我想仔细考虑一下这件事。
think sth. out 指“想通,想出,熟思”
如:He thought out a new idea. 他想出了一个新主意。
That wants thinking out. 那件事需要仔细考虑。
