Step 2 Discussion (3a)
1.Draw the form on the blackboard:

2.Help students fill in the first line of the blank as an example.
3.Get students to complete the activity in pairs. As the pairs work together, walk around the classroom offering support as needed.
Step 3 Writing (3b)
1.Ask students to give some rules at home.
2.Ask students to explain which rules they don’t agree with .

Sample 1
Dear Diary,
I do not agree with the rule that I must be home for dinner every day. This is because the rule affects my social life. It takes away opportunities for me to spend time with my friends. As a result, my life is quite boring sometimes. I think I should be allowed to have dinner with my friends once in a while.
For example, I would like to hang out with my classmates after dinner on some Fridays. I hope my parents will allow me to do this if I promise not to stay out too late and if there is no important family activity on those days.
Step 4 Self Check 1
1.Focus attention on the box. Invite a student to read the vocabulary words at the left
2.Ask the students to fill in the blanks on their own.
3.Check the answers. Five students each read a sentence, the rest of the students listen and see if these sentences are right or wrong.
Step 5 Self Check 2
1.Focus attention on verbs in the brackets. Change the verbs into as many forms as they can.
2.Ask students to fill in the blanks on their own. Then translate the sentences into Chinese in pairs.
1.无论我们会遇到多少困难,我相信所有问题最终都会得到解决。
2.会议期间禁止使用手机。
3.必须禁止18岁以下的青少年吸烟或饮酒。
4.许多父母认为必须把上学的事情放在首要位置,因而不应鼓励青少年做兼职工作。

Step 6 Language points
No matter how many difficulties we have, I believe all problems can be solved in the end.
no matter作“无论”“不管”解,用以指导表示让步的状语从句,常用在下列句型中:句型中的no matter what/who/when/...分别表示“无论何事”“无论何人”“无论何时”等,相当于“疑问词+ever”。
No matter which you choose, you will be satisfied.不论你选择哪一个,你都会满意的。
